I hate coming back from a vacation feeling more worn down then when I left. Sometimes the best vacations are spent with my feet up in front of my TV.

I've got a couple weeks of vacation after Christmas. Enough time to have some plans and enjoy them knowing also that I have time to slum about. Especially since the kid is back in school before I'm back at work Smiley: grin

I had an artifical tooth installed today. I need to call my dentist and ask her where the cyanide capsule goes.

I have 2 whole days off after Christmas. Bleh.

And there should be a tiny door at the base of the tooth for the capsule.

Nah, just a cap over a root canal'd chomper. But it was up front so they pretty much ground the tooth into a nub and glued the synth-tooth on top of it.

The best part was the dentist showing me the color match in the mirror and then popping it off to show me another, leaving me to see my yellow goblin fang. "Yeauugh!"

"Oh yeah.. I usually put the mirror down before I take that off."

I'll share a mildly amusing anecdote that occured earlier today (its not worth making its own thread for, i'd say):

I'm working part time doing deliveries for UPS during the holidays.
My supervisor's name is Jack, and he's pretty well known as being the UPS guy for the small town that I'm working in.

Well I went into a doll store run by this old lady and dropped off a package. As she was signing for it, she asked me this, and i kid you not:

"Jack off today?"

After I gave only a puzzled, slightly astonished look in return, she elaborated "Is Jack off today?"

She was pretty darn old, so I'm not surprised that she didn't even realize what she had said. I had a good laugh about it though.

Even better. A coworker of mine is named Jack.

We have a calander posted in our area that we write wether we are going to be at work for any given day.

Last summer Jack decided to take two weeks off. For two weeks on the calander, he wrote on the day "Jack Off".

He got countless emails letting him know that people were glad he was going to be busy, but he didn't need to give that much information.

Things got rather busy today. At an attorneys' office, this can get to be the busy season because of year end, but because we also get the ticked off divorced parents fighting about visitation and custody for the holidays.

Also decided to treat myself to Premium (thanks for Christmas bonus boss!) so I'm waiting for my premium access to be enabled. So I've been looking for a nice avatar. Any suggestions anyone?

I want to stomp around outdoors up big hills, faithful hound at one side, wife at the other. However, the wife is pregnant and due in about 19 days, ergo no stomping for me. Instead, we're "nesting".

Lol. Yeah. Got two of those (tragic acorn fight as a child). They're darn freaky looking when they take the caps off.

One bit that always drives me nuts at the dentists with these things is that their process to take one off is "strange". They basically put what seems to be a really sticky ball over the cap, and have you bite down on it and then open your mouth. Which wouldn't be a problem, except that the two I have (due to the tragic acorn fight accident) are logically located with one on the top row and one directly beneath it. Some part of me is always thinking that since *both* of them are stuck in the sticky ball, and well, physics means that the same force is applied to each when you open your mouth, that it should be totally random as to which one comes off. Somehow it always works out though, but it freaks me out each time.

Oh. And if you have caps or crowns, don't *ever* let your dentist put in some "new glue I learned about at a conference". He didn't mix it right or something and it basically ran more then it should and then dried and hardened in the shape of ridiculously sharp and painful spikes sticking into my mouth under the gumline. I have a pretty high tolerance for dental pain, but I only made it about a day before I had to come in for emergency treatment. Yeah. That sucked bad.

[sm]what? you guys don't love to hear dental horror stories?...[sm]

I have a crown over a root canal that was glued on 10 years ago and has been there ever since. Just looks like any other tooth to me. *shrug*

I was referring to my little tooth nub holding the crown on. She was just showing me the color match on the temporary crown and I was unaware, until she removed it, what my tooth now looked like. I'm sure once the temporary comes off for good and she pops the real thing on there, it won't be casually falling off.

At least, it better not be Smiley: mad

Today is boring as all hell. Tomorrow's saving grace is that I'll probably leave for lunch and just go home. By the time I come back, my absence will be old news.
