Look...let's just get to the point. Just because someone bought your cd, doesn't mean you need to "enlighten" the world with your fucking horrible rendition of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.

I swear, while walking through the mall on Friday that I was listening to Toto and Debbie Gibson team up to sing some sort of morbid version of Hark the Herald, accompanied by the soothing music of the electronic harmonica and a harpsichord.

It's s
hit like this that makes me hate Christmas.

I blame that goofy looking Harry Nodick Jr.

Would it be better sung by Loggins?

Hey Thanks!

This post reminded me that I had heard a really sweet little Christmas number by Dido this weekend while browsing through a chic little clothes shop with a big sale - bought MYSELF a new top. Smiley: grin....gotta go look up the song.

You've been useful, Nephthys.

I'm not a Mariah Carey fan by any regard, but her All I Want for Christmas is You is pretty good song in the face of all the tired, overplayed Christmas standards.

The only thing about that song is that it is catchy. In fact, just a mention of it and it is now stuck in my head. Thanks bunches.

I've sung the Hippo Song so many times at work this year they got me a stuffed hippo. Played it at home for my grandson, now he's hooked on it at 7 months ... his mother is ready to kill me.

One of the joys of being a grandparent is getting your grandkids to do all the things to drive their parents batty that they did to you.

Was it "Christmas Day"? I love that song so much, but it makes me sad.

The only good Christmas songs are the ones my kids sing. Even then, only at the moment in time when they are singing them. The same songs sung by anyone else at any point in time are just aweful.

John Lennon's "Happy Christmas" is a good one. Booker T. & the MG's also have a great version of "Jingle Bells," but no one ever plays it.

Probably the best Christmas CD I ever bought was James Brown's Christmas CD. It was all around pretty great, and had such classics as "Santa Clause Go Straight to the Ghetto" and "Go Power at Christmas," heh.

The Ramones' Christmas CD is good too.

I have never heard that (that I know of) but I would love to. No idea how I could ever find it though. This has me on musicmatch listening to christmas music...most of their lists are crap. I had forgotten about Chuck Berry's "Run Rudolph Run" though.

I posted this a while back, but I discovered The Carpenter's Christmas album, and her "Merry Christmas, Baby" and "The Christmas Waltz" kick ***. Every time I think of her starving herself, I want to go visit her grave and kick it. Stupid. What a great voice she had.

Mariah Carey's song is catchy, but nothing compared to Barenaked Ladies' "God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman/We Three Kings". Other great versions of Christmas songs by popular artists are the Pretender's version of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas", Chris Cornell's "Ave Maria", the best version ever of "Silent Night" by Boyz II Men and of course, Whitney's "Do You Hear What I Hear". which she recorded back when she didn't suck.

Damn it, I might have to burn a CD.
