Well do you mean the equivalent of the Tea Party in theme/purpose or the equivalent in signifance? Or both?

Tea Party, for you not strong in US history, was held to protest the high prices on tea due to Crown taxes. Said taxes were to help the Brits to recover money spent on war in the Americas and Europe.
For a 2005 equivalent I would suggest taking a very expensive fuel inefficient vehicle and dump it into the harbor.
I want to say "Preferably one with a prominent politician inside." but in the interest of non violence will hold my tongue in check.

How about the Government deciding to let Iraq import, setup their own gas stations, and sell gasoline directly to consumers without paying any tax on the gas.

Therefore, allowing them to undercut any American service stations. In retaliation a bunch of convienence store owners form an orginization called the "Petro Pumpers of Freedom" dress up like North Koreans and ambush an oil tanker, draining the oil into the ocean and then quietly going back to their lives while claiming responsibility and explaining exactly why they did it.

Well put. Maybe a bunch of boats with some girls gone wild chicks on it and a bunch of packs of beer thrown overboard?

Either way, you know if "then" was "now" that those people involved would be detained indefinatly for being terrorists.

I'm just trying to think of waht the low man can do, as the more I look around, the more that I can't seem to become convinced that... well.. y'know... We are being ruled by people with their own agenda with is wholly seperate from waht the agenda of the American governemnt should be, namly, "hooking up" all of your friends and family with nice jobs and nice buisness regardless of whether or not they are qualified or competent, and doing it all at the expense of trusting American lives and basically displaying an utterly blantant exploitation of patriotism. Youi know waht I mean.

I'm just trying to think of waht the "low man" can do.

Let's see...

1) Vote - Sure, I don't trust anybody. scratch that.
2) Write to my officials - Scratch that, I don't trust them. They are in their own world, with their own agenda that is wholly seperate from the agenda of JohnQ public.. let's not be naive.
3) ***** about it so much on internet forums and in public places that maybe it will spread.... (kinda doing that)
4) Become a polititian and go and do somthing about it. - ummmm , that's not gonna work... as if I was of the make that actually had the stomach for all of the back-stabbing and black-balling and all of the greedy corrupted conivery that comprises that entire counter-culture of politians, then I would have done it long ago. Fact is, if you ain't already there, or know anyone who is already there, or have lots of money, then you ain't ****.. and all you have is a vote... which chances are, doesn't count anyway... due to said corruption.

So, I really don't know... Maybe I should just wait for the next comet to arrive and buy my some shiny new sneakers.

Kelvy,

There's quite a bit each individual can do to further their interests. For instance create a PAC (political action commitee). Then solicit the financial aid of like minded individuals through fundraising events. For instance a few years back I created a pac that was focused on keeping this democrat out of the mayors office. I threw a few fundraisers on my property, bbq's, and ended up raising quite a bit that in turn went to promoting the candidate I was supporting. This is just one example of how you can become involved in the political process.

hmm... think a privatly operated armed miltia set to threaten the government into being honest with the public by having armed marches and parades through Washington DC would sit well?

Well, since neither society, nor government pay all that much attention to angry protesters, it would probably take something like crashing an airliner full of people into a skycraper to get their attention.
