I was watching a wonderful food programme with Chef Gordan Ramsey the "F word"
F word Linky
Every week he sends his guest food critic out to look at different aspects of food. This week he was asking diners what annoyed them most at restaurants. And at number one came in "double tipping".
Now that is where a restaurant will automatically add in a service charge and STILL leave a space for a tip on the bill.
This practice really annoys me as a tip for myself is giving monetary reward for good service. I do not like mandatory tips and I like to specify the amount.
At a recent dinner in London a bill came with a service charge added. The food had been late (near 2 hours), of poor quality and the service was appalling. I actually kicked up a stink and refused to pay the service charge at all and they removed it. The restaruant gained no tip at all, as should be for bad service. That is the consumers choice though.
Do you agree that double tipping is the worst practice in restaruant? If not .. what annoys you most?
And for UK people .. you can vote on the F word website!!!
