Merry Christmas works for me. Even if you're Jewish, Pagan or Kwanzanian, I still want you to have a good Dec. 25th.

I usually say Happy Holidays, but since there was an option for Festivus I had to go with that.

I find it interesting that businesses are going with 'Happy Holidays' to not offend, but GFY is getting more votes.

Seriously, I figure you say what corresponds to your beliefs. Just like when someone sneezes I don't roll out a "Guzuntite" (sp?) but a "Bless you", when I am wishing someone a Happy 25th I say "Merry Christmas". If they then respond "and a Happy Hanukah to you", then I know they're jewish and I have their good wishes for a whole 8 days prior.

I usually say Happy Holidays, but only because I'm talking about both Christmas and New Years. My cards even say "Merry Christmas" and "Happy New Year" on them, then we wrote "Happy Holidays".

I'm not the kind of person who has friends that are easily offended by such things, or we wouldn't be friends for long. I'm fairly offensive on a regular basis and saying Merry Christmas to someone who doesn't celebrate it would really be a fairly minor offense in the grand scheme of things. Smiley: tongue

When I used to actually have a Jewish friend, I always wrote Happy Haunikah on their card, and they always wrote Merry Christmas on the card they sent to us. I don't think either of us would have been offended if we didn't though, it's the spirit of the greeting that counts. I just like to know I've been thought of.

I'm with Flea and Nexa. My guideline is what I celebrate, not what others may or may not celebrate.

When I make cookies and decorate them with sprinkles and bring them to the office, I don't specify that you must celebrate Christmas to take one; but neither do I try to pass them off as Kwanzaa cookies.

Gotta admit though, some Kwanza Kwookies would hit the spot right about now.
