There was a case of this that was on the Discovery channel a while back.

It was a different case, but similar.

I feel bad for the children.

There is a lady in my home town that looks similar to this except the growth is on the left half of her face and the right half is normal. I think hers might actually be caused by Elephantiasis.

One day I was eating at Ruby Tuesday and she was also in the restaurant facing me and sitting in my line of vision. It totally ruined the meal for me. I do feel bad for her but it just freaks me out. Smiley: frown

i watched a story about this on discovery channel on a boy who was a little worse off.

it is actually the material that makes up our teeth growing rapidly. it is actually bone.

for the boy, they carved a face out of teh tumor itself to give him a jaw, cheeks, chin. he lived for a few years afterwards, but died of an infection in the end.

the problem is, they cannot controll the growth after they carve it up. their plan was 2 or 3 more operations intill he reached adulthood and his bones stoped growing, then make a finale face for him.

my heart bleeds for her. atleast there is some hope for her, where as in the past, the bone would eventually close off her mouth all together and starve her to death, or would block her throat passage eventually killing her also.

no one knows why the material explodes in growth as it does, it is a form of cancer. God bless her.

ditto.

I feel so sorry for her. It makes me happy that the doctor's waived their fees and money was donated to cover the other costs.

I'll admit that I feel awkward when I see pictures like that. You feel such sorrow for the person, and yet realize you can't relate. One can only begin to imagine the type of suffering that individual has gone through.

Of course. It's a pulse and a hole. And even the pulse is negotiable.
