I've no idea why it'd be called a "dry sink", but there ya go.

Apparently, before the advent of running water, cabinets were made with a depression in the flat area at waist height that would hold a ceramic bowl. It would be filled with water and used as a sink. The rest of the cabinet would often be used to hold dishware.

I'm not sure that anyone in the family has ever even owned a true "dry sink" or a "hutch" for that matter. Call it a damned china cabinet and be done with it, I say...

Another one,

You have a small entrance room of your house that has a couple closets, some shelves, hooks for coats..etc.

There is also other storage in this room for seldom used things, like holiday decorations.

What do you call this room?

Foyer, storage.

See now, I have a foyer in my house, and it's nothing like the description. We have a tiny closet that is really there only to hold jackets. It's open to the second story with a chandalier hanging. Stairs leading up to the second floor, a balcony overhanging. Around here, a foyer is another word for an open spaced entrance hall with an open area up to the next floor of the house.

38% (Yankee). You are definitely a Yankee.

No surprise there.

Living room.

Front hall. (providing there's a hallway there)

48% (Yankee). Barely in the Yankee category.
Smiley: dubious

They should have you enter the state you're from, and it would dynamically update the results as it gathers more data.

Joph: I'd call it a living room, but I have friends that'd call it a front room.

My living room doesn't have a T.V. though, it's the room with the fancy chairs and carpet and coffee table, mainly for entertaining guests. A parlor, I guess.

What most people would call a Den is our "T.V. room."

That is the most idiotic thing I have ever heard. Everyone knows Dr. Pepper is made by Pepsi co.

If that bothers you, stay out of the red area of that map.

71% (Dixie). Your neck must be at least pink!

I take exception to that y'all.

Okay, I have lived in Mississippi 99% of my lifetime, and I still don't understand the "coke" thing. Yes, if someone asks what I want to drink, I say "coke," but simply because I really want a coke. I rarely refer to it as anything, but if I do, I call it a soda. More often, just a drink. If it is coming from a fast food establishment or something, people know I mean "soda."

Not around here. It's bottled by Coke. So Ha.
