I dressed myself without incident today.

I know you were concerned.

Off topic - My first response to this thread was to reply "/creepshow on 'what are you wearing'".

I immediately had a flash back to my days of working telephone survey. I was monitoring a survey for quality purposes and it was an older woman who worked there talking to some young guy on the other end of the phone. He was trying to fuck with her and said 'what are you wearing?', completely dead pan and without the slightest hesitation she said "clothes" the guy completely paused and didnt know how to react. He ended up doing the survey with her. The lady was nails.

I so thought this would be some juicy gossip about your piece of shit husband and his endeavors to act like a civilized adult and keep his peepee out of other people's cha-cha's.

Good to hear about the clothes thing too though.

Things with the hubby are very good actually, thanks for asking. We just finished counseling.

Not quite as juicy as hoped, but good news nonetheless. Congrats on getting past a major hurdle. It can't be easy.

hehe, you don't like me signing my name, but now you're signing my name? If you can't beat em, join em eh?

No, it's not easy, and it's not something that one ever forgets, but we're both working really hard and I am in the hopes that we'll come out the other end even stronger than before. I'll always have a little pain in my heart about it happening, and he'll always have to live with that regret, but I'm really happy that we stuck through the hardest part and are on the right track. Alot of people on both sides of the situation cut and run and I'm glad that neither of us did.

I'm glad things are looking better for you and hubby Nexa. My parents have been married for almost 30 years and are probably going to get divorced. It's been really ugly, with TROs and everything and it really bothers me since I'll be giving birth in less than 4 weeks. :(

I'm so sorry to hear that Pikko. I hope you're trying not to let it get to you too much, this should be a happy time for you!

*big hugs*

I used to pray my parents would get divorced when I was little, but they never did.

What's a TRO? *feels dumb*

Nothing says Happy 30th anniversary like a restraining order.

Sorry to hear that Pikko. You'd figure that people in their 50's (?) would be able to handle things a little smoother than that.

Ugh, I'm really sorry to hear that then.

Well I hope that for the most part you are able to concentrate on you, your gorgeous daughter, your new baby, and the holidays. I don't know if they're dragging you into it much, but if they are, you tell them that stress isn't good for your pregnancy and to leave you out of it!

Did you get another tree yet?

The hubby is making loud grunts and grumpy faces whenever I cheerfully suggest we go out and get another tree before ALL the short ones are gone, so I'd been hoping that we could just keep this one a little longer since it wasn't really brown yet. (he's been very "I told you it was too early") But last night somehow my daughter seemed to sense something was wrong and took all her candy canes off the tree. This left it a little bald and so hubby commented, "I guess it does look pretty brown..." so w00t maybe we can go get one in a few days.

They haven't been getting me involved, which is great. But they still act like two year olds. I'm just dreading having to coordinate separate visits and all that crap.

You mean for Christmas? One comes in the morning, one comes in the afternoon. Not your fault they can't act like grown ups and there's no need to make it harder on you or your family than it already is.

That's my thought on the matter anyway!

Naw I mean for anything. They live on another island and so flying over to visit gets expensive. (about 180-200 per trip)

This is too sad of a thread for this time of the year.

Glad to hear that you are doing better with your situation, Nexa. Many prayers that progress continues upwards for you.

Sorry to hear about your parents, Pikko. Prayers for you too that things settle down, you buy a new tree, and just put it behind you and concentrate on your little one to have a happy Christmas and for your little one to be to come to this world with smiles.

Now...let's just hijack this thread to something that will bring a chuckle. Ooooo! I know! Since Nephy is in this thread, let me get him started!

My wife went through a similar round of hell last year. It was even worse though, as her mother stole 20k from her father, participated in making a false claim to the ATF that resulted in the father having his house searched and being put on federal trial, and while he was in federal prison awaiting trial she attempted to serve him divorce papers.

When we asked "wtf?" she said something along the lines of "this is the only way I knew to get him served with papers because he is always gone driving a truck"

Sorry to hear it Pikko. What I went through was total hell for me and it wasn't even my immediate family. It can't be easy what you are going through especially at this time of the year.

We broke down and got a fake plastic tree (que Radiohead) because the cats would eat the real one and vomit it up every morning. However, we decide to test the cats first to see if they will eat the fake plastic pine needles. We get a fake plastic wreath and leave it out to be nosed, sniffed, and potentially consumed for a couple days. Nothin. Not a nibble.

We trundle off to various shops and eventually settle on a nice four meter tall tree. We drag the beast in, we set it up. We plug it in - it is glorious and tall and we can fill it with all or ornaments and sit about it and bask in it's fake plastic glory.

Next morning, a pile of kitty vomit, replete with fake plastic pine needles.

It's the damn tree shape! They only eat from below. However, whichever cat did it learned pretty quick and only vomited a couple times. This year (year two of fake tree 1.0) somehow he forgot and it took him a couple more vomits to figure it out.

However, our giant doggie (great dane) has decided the tree is a great place to rub her face. (All the danes I've known love to rub their faces against a hand or the couch or a chair back - and they love having their faces touched in general. Especially their eyes.) Good thing it is large, otherwise it would be sideways.

Heh! Cats and trees are always a funny combination. Our cat found the tree to be his own personal jungle gym, and he would climb it constantly. He would then pull down the ornaments so that he could play with them and break them. One morning I ran back inside from my car to grab something and caught him diving head first into the tree from a bookshelf. I ran over and grabbed his hind legs to pull him off of it, and he grasped onto the tree as tightly as he could. We had a tugging war, with me cussing at him and pulling his legs in attempt to get him out of the tree. After that, we moved it into a bedroom with a window facing the street and shut the door to keep him out. I hate not being able to have the tree in the livingroom.

Bah. No tree in my house. Just put out the christmas coke-bears and stockings and such instead. That's festive enough. Trees are just a pain in the butt to deal with IMO.

That and the childhood memories of having a christmas tree fall over on me might have something to do with it...
