That's only half the story. Why not list which cities they were screened in? Then ask yourself whether they are representative of the general public. Oh and a half million dollars in 3 days showing in large cities that generally promote immoral lifestyles isn't a good indicator of success.

OOOO, but the small rural cities that lack any significant population are?

I also liked how you tried to link homosexuality to declining movie sales. This whole time I thought it was due to lack of original plots. Silly me.

Let's be honest here, folks. San Francisco alone prolly comprises 75% of the ticket sales since those poof boys likely went to see it six or seven times in a row. This is not a movie which is going to appeal to the broad audience, nor is it going to challenge the box office numbers which would generate the buzz for a blockbuster. It is aimed at a niche market, appeals to critics due to it's (semi)controversial nature, and pokes its' thumb in the collective eye of mainstream America which balks at actually visualizing at what ostensibly is happenning under those horse blankets.

For all this tempest in a teapot, it'll go to DVD in a month to be treasured dearly by balloon knot pokers everywhere. No big deal.

It wasn't an argument -- it was me making fun of you.

No one's saying that it's going to challenge Narnia or King Kong. I said that, between its inital release box office numbers and the amount already signed for foreign distribution, the film is already in the black. It already has its award nominations. It broke per screen opening records. It can go to DVD tomorrow without even going to its planned wide release and it's already a financial and critical success.

The fact that it's not Harry Potter is meaningless except to those desperately trying to spin the movie as a failure because they're opposed to its content.

Keep quoting "Statistics" that were so skewed when they came out that the APA straight out called them BS.

Pedophilia is a psychological disorder.
Homosexuality is not. (They removed it from the DSMMr-IV in the 70's when they realized that most of the studies were done with a huge bias towards the opposite view)

Do some actual research into the HUNDREDS of respected studies that have been conducted that have found that there is a non-significant corralation ( 0.1 - (-0.4)) between homosexuality and pedophilia.

Remember also that most Pedophilia corralates HIGHER in straight heterosexual males between the ages of 30-65 (.2 - .4).

Both corralations are non-significant. Which means that there is no known way to corralate anything.

Take a fuc
king statistics class you ignorant, uneducated usless bag of meat and water.

Erm because I didn't know certain words were considered swearing.

Oh right,

Why has it been legalized in Canada for two homosexuals to marry when it's such a "Deviant behavior"?

I'm sure Virus has a couple friend who would oppose Potter on the basis that it's witchcraft.

I'm not disagreeing with you, Jo. I'm just saying that this argument is a non-issue since it is a movie that critics love, not the body of movie goers. While it is a success by the standard of it being in the black financially and critically acclaimed, it will die a quick death in the theaters since those numbers you touted aren't enough to keep the Mega-plex interested in having it clog up a screening room when Rocky CVII Balboa vs Mothra will generate so much more revenue for the joint.

It's a film for a niche market and it would have done well even if Carrottop had played the leading role. My proof? Xenia, Warrior Princess ran in syndication for years as a sop to the bearded clam lickers.

ROFL.

Wow. You aren't even a decent troll.

Not only is the article linked by several christian funded groups, but Dr. Satinover is (if you do a BIT of research) on the payroll for said groups.

This is a guy saying that there is a gay agenda in the APA?

You're not all that smart are you? From his research that is actually published you will discover that not only is it fundamentally flawed, but patently biased. You should really read up on WHAT he was searching for and how he made the leap he did.

Hell, I've been to lectures that have torn his research to shreds. By conservative profs no less.

Keep em comming, this is fun.
