I watched "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" last night and I was really impressed, laughing away but also appreciating the dark side to Dahls story carried so well by Burton.

I simply adore films by Tim Burton and I was caught by a thought. He has so many films starring Johnny Depp and composed with the music of Danny Elfman. Each one has a magical yet dark quality that just oozes of storytelling. The three of them seem to work so well together.

We all know of the famous directors like Speilberg and Lucas etc. But Burton/Depp/Elfman seem to be a very successful almost trio.

What films do you like that share a core group of talent? And why?

Well, there's always the John williams george lucas/stephan spielberg any actor ever combo, But if we are just talking about the soundtrack, I tend to like things with soundtracks by Hanz Zimmer

Speilberg/Harrison Ford/John Williams.

The only combo I could think of really.

for a single film where it all came togethre in a totally unexpected way i would say Moulin Rouge I would not have pictured Nicole Kidman or Ewan McGregor in those roles but it really worked.

Favourite Director:- James Cameron.
Favourite Actor: Brad Pitt.
Music: Never take any notice to be honest. but i suppose the only soundtrack i own is "The lost boys" so him i guess....

That was going to be my answer.

The Burton/Elfman duo date back to 1985 and Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, Burton's first feature film and Elfman's first score.

So am I the only one here who thinks Gene Wilder did a better job as Willy Wonka? Maybe it was the pageboy haircut. I don't know, but it almost seemed like he was trying to be like Gene.

I like the David Lynch/Kyle MacLachlan combo (Dune, Blue Velvet and of course, Twin Peaks.)

Never paid attention to the music though so I haven't a clue if its the same on those.

He wrote a song for the film, but it wasn't a score. Being a member of Oingo Boingo, he was cleary capable of writing songs.

A score is different.
