I thought about you last night. I watched Closer and I imagined Jude wearing a monkey.

Made the movie better.
Replacing Jude Law with a monkey in that movie would have made it better.

In fact, a stage version of Closer performed entirely by monkeys would be a thousand times better. Except the strip club scene would be kind of icky.

The premise was ok, but my god... the lines! The only reason I kept watching it was I was too bored to do anything else.

No it doesn't need to be there, so I have removed it. Happy now?

A constructive reponse to my request, thanks. Commas are used as a slight pause in the flow of your text so that it reads better.

Now can anyone provide me with a link for uploading my avatar or is my punctuation going to be scrutinised a little bit more?

Click the "Your Account" link, and if you're a premium member you can upload a file to use.

I could also have written it this way:

Click the "Your Account" link and, if you're a premium member, you can upload a file.

Sometimes punctuation really is a matter of aesthetics. The trick is knowing the rules before you break them.

Why does something tell me that this guy doesn't have premium and is going to be really annoyed when he can't have an avatar?

If you are too dumb to remember the rule (that's me), avoid the situation entirely:

If you are a premium member, you can click the "Your Account" link and upload a file.

Also note that I replaced "you're" with "you are" to help you avoid the your/you're problem.

Thanks, very helpful. For a moment there I thought I was asking a reasonable question with my first post in 'the asylum' only to be pulled up about a comma and my punctuation. I guess I'll put my stones down. Nice to meet you guys too.....

No, I am not a premium member. But will be looking in to it. And I will not be annoyed about not having an avataar YET especially one drawn by a 10 year old, that is definately something I will not lose sleep over!

Explain the use of five "."'s in your ellipsis, I believe three is the standardized norm, five seems simply redundant.
