Capovilla was born in Guayaqull in western Ecuador on September 14, 1889, and lives there today with her daughter-in-law and son.

She had five children, and has four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Her husband died in 1949.

White said Capovilla had been asked what she thought about the changes she had seen over her life.

"She said she disliked the fact that presently it's acceptable for women to pursue men. And she said that every day she thanks God that she's alive," White said.

I can't even imagine how much this woman has seen in her life. I'll soon be going to my 10 year high school reunion and I look back on the 1990's like they were a long time ago.

I just find this story amazing. It would be interesting to be able to have a conversation with her, hear about her life and how the world has changed. I bet she has an interesting perspective.

I wonder what she thinks of the internet. I can barely get my parents to understand computers, I wonder if her great-great grandchildren do tech support for her.

Not to offend, but I'm sure she's probably quite a *****. All of the young-in's today probably **** her right off.

I'm sure she's got some interesting stories, but getting them out of her might be more work than it's worth.

My great-grandfather lived to be 101, near the end he was so bitter at everyone for changing the way things were done, he was almost impossible to talk to.

I bet she's seen her bedroom ceiling more times than she'd like to admit.

Wow, she's lived 3 centuries and still be in good health, quite impressive. I think it would be kind of cool to be born in one century, live in a second and die in a third. Not to mention everything one would be witness to during that time.
