My most vivid memory of that particular birth was a the big blob of blood that came flying out of me and landed 'splat' on the doctors glasses.

Hers, but I imagine it was. She hadn't done many deliveries and looked pretty grossed out when it happened.

I can't imagine anyone being in the delivery room except my husband

Is your husband comfortable with this? I mean I could handle the cord seperation part, but the rest of the delivery I was pretty happy to have the doctor and nurses.

Congrats to you and your wife, and for the sake of your child's happiness and to guarantee he or she will not strangle you in your sleep years to come.....

Do not celebrate his birthday and Xmas together to get out of getting him/her extra gifts! His birthday for the next 13 years needs to be a completely seperate celebration. If you say, "We're celebrating your birthday on Xmas! You'll get your gifts then!" will cause undue damage that cannot be reversed!

I implore you!

I know in most cases the first child takes a loooong time for labor, but not always. My son was born 7 1/2 hours after I thought something just might be going on. I went so fast I didn't even get my medicine like I asked for. And I have a friend whos second child was born in 20 minutes. 20 minutes, meaning she felt a small twinge, and went into full labor, couldnt make it to the hospital in time.

So hopefully you made it in time to get to her bedside. Gratz and all

My sister was in labour for 22 hours with her first. I got to hear all the horror stories from her about the pain and all, but when I had my first I was in labour for 3 hours with my first and had no pain....I have stubbed my toe and had it hurt worse than that.
