You better run then, she'll have more strength than 10 men and probably won't be happy that you're on the internet instead of helping her.

I am not sure if my spouse went into labor, the first thing that would come to mind would be "Hey! Gotta post on the internet!"

It might just be me though.

Is posting on the Asylum really what you should be doing now?

Well my wife ended up being in labor all night and well into the next afternoon. They decided to induce active labor and told me I should go eat something so that I don't pass out. I told the nurse I was fine because I really felt great and she told me that the low blood sugar and lack of sleep would make it a very real possibility I might pass out.

Not wanting to look like an as[/b]s and pass out halfway through labor by not following the nurses advice I went and grabbed a little something from the hospital cafe. After eating it I felt 1000 times worse. The whole night of not sleeping and stressing hit me in an instant. I damn near passed out before they even started the pitosin. If I had it to do all over again I think I would have skipped the snack and just tuffed it out.

BTW forgot your congratz earlier paulsol. If this is your first the life you knew is over.

For one of my kids I had been up for over 36 hours prior with work, etc. and I just could not take it anymore. I got my wife to the hospital and crashed on the floor for 2 hours. It was enough sleep to get me through the next 12 hours at least, and I even cut the cord...

Just throw the baby across the room. It'll rip on its own.

Either the cord or the baby... it's all good

This only reinforces my belief that men belong in the waiting room, passing out cigars when a woman is in labor. I'll probably want my mother.

Find me a hospital that allows cigar smoking in the waiting room and I'm golden!

I can't imagine anyone being in the delivery room except my husband. Then again, I don't have the greatest relationship with my mother.

My first baby was born at the University hospital. The doctor announcing the baby was crowning was a cue for a whole class of med. students to file into the delivery room. I was in no position to argue and could've cared less at that point.

I wonder now if they schedule class around expected deliveries or if I just go lucky?

My most vivid memory of that particular birth was a the big blob of blood that came flying out of me and landed 'splat' on the doctors glasses.
