I just pulled up my home page to find this as my howto of the day: How to Dreadlock Straight Hair

So, who's going to be sporting straight-hair dreads tomorrow?

Yours.

Once you reach the initial goal (this should be easy given your current state), you can work on slowly unfolding your body into an upright position. Continue to grow your *** hairs until they reach your chin with your head out of your *** and your body in an upright position.

Did it. bout 4 years ago.

I bleached it
then dyed it red
then used a whoooole lot of ivory soap and a whole lot of twisting.

helps if you never use shampoo and conditioner as well.

they weren't long though.. they pertruded from my head like a brilliant bright-red bouquet of daggers.

..however a recedeing hairline will kill that real quick.

I've considered dreads in the past since I tend to have a whiteboy fro anyway... but they're non-reversable, and I don't want to have to start from scratch if I don't like them

Wouldn't go over well at my job. I've worked there for 6 years and until recently I've had a buzz-cut the entire time I have worked there. Last year I grew my hair out to about 6 inches long.

My boss has commented a few times that he liked it better the old way hinting for me to cut it. I just told him that my wife likes it better the new way and he gave up :P

I think dreads look dumb on anyone (Black or white). It looks all uncared for and messy...

you can always just get cornrows or use gel to make temporary dreads.

a college buddy had them and had to cut them for an internship, go figure, they smelled REALLLLY bad when they were being cut. (unwashed hair)
