Now, you know you're a bad parent when your 6 year old daughter starts signing a song in the car, and I have NO CLUE how she knows the lyrics to "My Humps" by Black Eyed Peas. But it was a kick to hear her singing it and I hope to God that she had no clue what the lumps and humps are, though in ten years I'm sure she'll be raising her own kid.

Seven Nation Army - The White Stripes

Although I will listen to the opening once in a while, I can't seem to listen to it anymore fully through.

The Red - Chevelle

Used to like it, but now I just don't listen to it anymore.

Stories - Trapt

Still my 2nd favorite song by them, I just don't listen to it as much as I used to.

Albums I never need to hear again:

Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals, The Wall
The Eagles - Hotel California
Eric Clapton - S.T., 461 Ocean Blvd., Slowhand
Dire Straits - Brothers In Arms
Steve Winwood - Back In The High Life
Billy Joel - The Stranger, 52nd Street, Glass Houses, The Nylon Curtain, An Innocent Man
Fleetwood Mac - Rumours, S.T.
Prince - Purple Rain
Grateful Dead - Workingman's Dead, American Beauty
The Doors - the entire catalog
Paul McCartney and Wings - Band on the Run
Led Zeppelin - the entire catalog
The Moody Blues - Days of Future Past
Tom Petty - Damn the Torpedoes, Full Moon Fever
Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream

These are the first few that come to mind of mostly excellent albums I never need to hear again due to radio and other source oversaturation. After the first thousand or so times, it's just can't be fresh anymore.

I am trying to picture what tune you are "singing" that to. The version I heard as a kid was more like:

I know a song that gets on everybody's nerves
everybody's nerves
everybody's nerves
I know a song that gets on everybody's nerves
and this is how it goes...

Etc. To the tune of Glory, Glory Hallelujah, sort of.

*shakes head*

They play Animals on the radio? And oversaturate it in other sources? From my understanding, Animals is sort of the "black sheep" of the Pink Floyd golden age, a love it or hate it sort of thing. Guess it's more popular than I thought

That being said, the British choir from Another Brick in the Wall Pt. 2 was neat and rather creepy at first, but now it just gets on my nerves.

Any new Greenday just plain sucks now.

The Gorillaz Feel Good Inc. has just been played way to much. Everytime it comes on one of the DJs has to say "Stop laughing at me".

Unless it's sung by Peter Griffin, then it's funny as hell.

At least you get to hear the White Stripes, the DJ's here never play them unless they are requested.

Today Steve Dahl played "Let it Be" on his radio show..... I can live the rest of my life in contentment if I never heard that song again.

When compared against the other three it seems like it bombed, Dark Side at 30 million+ sold, Wish and The Wall well into the teens of millions, with Animals coming in at about 7 million.

Still, I've never met a stoner over 30 that didn't have a copy and play the living hell out of it. Most of them claiming it is greater "genius" than the rest. I always figured it was the one album of the massive hit era Pink Floyd that couldn't be rammed down your throat over radio during the work day, therefore it takes a lot longer to get burned out on.

Late night "classic rock" radio DJs often used Sheep as an excuse to take a dump in the late 80s and early 90s.

As for it being the "black sheep", I'd hardly call 7 million copies a minor hit.

Not that it matters much, but I still have a lot of fun with The Pink Floyd's The Piper at the Gates of Dawn

I was once told that anytime you heard "American Pie" on the radio, the DJ was using the bathroom or having a cigarette.

I used to know a huge list of the songs that were most often abused for that

Peter Frampton - Do You Feel Like We Do (unedited from Comes Alive)
Rush - Xanadu
Traffic - Low Spark of High Heeled Boys
Don McLean - American Pie

I can't believe I can't remember more of these. For some reason half of the ones popping into my head aren't played so much any more, such as Genesis - Home By the Sea/Second Home By the Sea.

Freebird doesn't count because most creatively crippled "classic rock" stations play that three times a day at least.

I'll think about this while I'm at work tomorrow bored out of my mind and edit it, I know the list was about 30 songs long, all 8+ minutes, generally night shift rock or small staff radio staples.

There was a secondary list for college/alt rock stations, those I can actually remember for some reason.

Audioslave sucks ***!!!

i dunno how the founders of one of the most inventive and innovative bands of the 90s could stand to be in that crap soup-producing band.
As for Gwen Stefani, she should be slowly garroted and then impaled for being a brainless, talentless, sell-out ***** (not that i was a great fan of no doubt either)

You have ***** taste dudes... listen to music from the days where people made it to make music and not money.

Most of the songs everyone mentioned are on my list as well.

Which begs the question: What to do when you've exhausted your music collection (6300 MP3s in my case), and very few of the new releases cut it?

For me it has been looking for bands I didn't know about that play the same (or similar) genre, like the bands I liked (but got bored of).

This site (and no I'm not advertising, but it's awesome):

www.musicplasma.com

You'll figure it out, just search the band you want "alikes" for ... and you'll see. Of course it's all depends on the site administrator's perspective. But I've found it to be "accurate" and very useful.

I advertise this site whenever I get the chance, it's awesome if you want to find more music to like.

Plus, it's like having 25 radio stations to choose from that all play music you like. Completely free, too.

I'm seriously considering using this as my sig, with your permission of course ;P

I'm going to have to agree with the Gwen Stefani vote. I sort of liked her when she was with no doubt but every godamned song she's done since then has gotten progressively more irritating.

Here's my plug for a great internet station:

Cold Play is at the top of my list for immediate changing of radio stations.

Edit: That first song killed them. The rest all sucked from the start.

Everytime I hear Boulevard of Broken Dreams, Holiday, or Brain Stew I feel like stabbing my head with a pen. And I've so had it with that gawd awful "LookatthisphotographeverytimeIdoitmakesmelaugh" song. The radio station I listen to plays them all like every hour. I used to hate You and Me until I saw them play it in my favorite 4400 episode because I thought it had the stupidest lyrics ever.

What day is it and in what mo-honth.. WTF?

I love that song. I don't get tired of the Killers, but I don't listen to radio, so that might be why.

Joph, I can understand some of your choices, but ALL of Zepplin IV? Who gets tired of "Going to California"???

For me: Anything by 311.
