For reminding me that there's still magic in the world. Just finished the complete works in preperation for the movie release, and I enjoyed them much more than the first time I read them 15 years ago. If you've never read them I'd suggest picking them up. You won't be disappointed.

I think there were 8 books in the series or so. I managed to read the first 7 several years back but by the time I opened the last one, I was so disinterested in the books that I just didn't read it.

Writing mostly sucks too.

Never saw the appeal, personally, but the movie looks like it'll be well done. Mmmm Tilda Swinton.

The previews look good, but I'm still concerned about Aslan...but I guess we'll see.

Am I to take it that you find Tilda Swinton attractive? I think she makes a good witch, just because she's so damn creepy looking.

Yup! Her, Cate Blanchet, Nicole Kidman, etc. As my freind says "He basically likes any women who looks vaguely like David Bowie from a distance."

haha, I'm with you on Cate Blanchet, but that's about it!

Although, I did have a little bit of a crush on David Bowie from Labrynth. *sigh*

I haven't read those since I was young, but didn't realize how chock full of Christian Imagery they were until I saw the previews for the movies.

I liked the books as a child and I'm tempted to see the movie because of this.

But...anyone thinks these flicks are Disney's way of sucking up to the "Ellen" boycotter's of a few years back?

Oh, and to make some money. Christian's will go out to see this in droves. Unless of course they believe that the english are really as godless as their paster's tell them >.>

Nah, I doubt it. They'll mostly be oblivious to that aspect of it I imagine.

You know, like they are to everything else?

:)

Brainwashed or not, Till We Have Faces was my favorite book for years, when I was in junior high, I believe. I haven't read it in a long time, but I remember really enjoying it. I'll have to look at it again sometime.

'Cause it's what Smash does.

I read it back as a wee tyke and enjoyed it for the fantasy story. Read it later and acknowledged the Christian imagry though it didn't influence my like or dislike of the tale. I'm sure I'll continue to like it now Smiley: smile

I couldnt remember if there was a unicorn or not...deliberately haven't reread them lately so that I wouldn't notice too many inconsistancies, haha.

I did read all the books as a child, and wasn't aware of any Christian imagery at the time. Wouldn't recognize most of it nowadays either, for that matter.

My girlfriend and I watched the old BBC television productions of the first four a few months ago (though I missed most of the Dawn Treader and Silver Chair) and the complete lack of effects, and cosplay creatures was rather amusing. Seeing it all done in modern CGI will be interesting. What I like most about the commercials I see on TV is the wolf saying, "Take them". That was pretty cool.
