nope, its this plot of land is it not? same lands same nation.

get your terms straight. the nation of France and its current gov. are not the same age. the current french gov. changed after Nepolian was disposed, but the nation of France has been around since it was called Gal back when the Romans were in power. while the romans were in power and France was called Gal, the Americas were called something we do not know by the Anasasi who ruled the land long before Egypt was ruled by the Pharos.
This plot of land is the Americas. This nation that resides on the plot of land is the United States. One is considerably older than the other.

No one ever said the nation of France and its government were the same age. I said that, as of the 1400's (and in fact earlier), there was a nation known as France. Said nation, throughout various political changes, wars and other upheavals has been consistantly known as the nation of France. In the 1400's, there was no United States of America. Hell, to vast majority of Europe, there was no America period up until the end of the century. The Anasasi, to whom you so desperately cling, did not morph into the United States. Seperate nation and peoples who happened to (unfortunately for them) occupy the same land destined to become the U.S.

I think what the entire secondary argument here can be summed up as is that the British have a long tradition. Or, rather, they have numerous long traditions. At this point they are the only things that hold the empire together. Bully for you. You cling to those traditions like an alcoholic to his last bottle of rye. They are what sustains you and helps you sleep on those cold, foggy London nights.

Kudos on that long successful string of retaining your colonies though (dominoes falling is the metaphor that jumps quickest to mind). That and the whole player on the world stage thing. You didn't jump high enough last time. Be mindful or we'll start letting another country be our favorite ***** in Europe.
