Yup, I'm heading back.

Thirty five years old now and wishing I would have gone back sooner. It's going to be a hell of lot tougher than it would have been before I had a family but it will be worth it in the end.

Another 2 years and the degree will be mine!

Wish me luck or GFY

Throws some luck at Aegis' head.

At least your going back, which is honorable.

Good luck! How old were you when you were last in school? I went at 18 and bombed, then went back at 23. I have found that being married at 23 (almost 25 now, but no kids) made school much easier than being young and stoned, heh. Just in general, school is easier.

I think I was in my 20's last attempt. A few years ago I planned on going back and was enrolled but then we found out my wife needed surgery so it got pushed back.

I'm doing it this time.

That reminds me of when I left high school and was in my first semester of college. My "study-pals" and I would stay up all night playing poker, D&D and drinking whatever was left from the weekend before.

Wonder why I never got my degree in the first place...Smiley: rolleyes

See! Things like that you won't do, because your priorities are much different. I mean, occasionally I berate myself for not going when daddy was paying and I had no bills and no husband, but when I sit in class and watch the younger college students hungover and sleeping in class? I am glad I started over once I was older.

Congraduations! I went back to school at the age of 30 to go for a second degree (Administration of Justice). I'll get that in about 2 weeks. After reviewing my transcript, I found that I can get a 3rd degree in Psychology if I just stick with it for the Spring 2006 and Summer 2006 terms. So I'm sticking and hoping to stay stuck.

So lots of luck! School is much easier when you have family cheering you on.

i went back to get my master's degree.

it is tougher than when I went the first time. Finding the time and motivation to do homework, after working all day isn't easy...but it's worth it.

keep plugging away Aegis, I'm sure you'll be the best HVAC tech out there!

Good luck, Aegis and all others. Nothing like an investment in yourself.

Someday I'd like to get all the way to a doctorate. Just as soon as I figure out in what.

Yeah. Good luck!

Honestly, I found that going back to school was *easy* after having been in the workforce for some time. Suddenly, doing homework and class assignments just isn't the burden it was when I was in my teens and 20s. Compared to work deadlines, classwork was relatively simple. I found it wasn't hard at all to get A's in every class I took.

I think you'll be surprised at how fun and easy learning is now that you've got a bit more life experience under your belt. You certainly can prioritize it better...

I'm working on my Master's, starting up again in January after a year off to have my baby. I'm sure I wouldn't be working on it yet either, but I get free classes, so it would be kind of stupid not to work on it a bit. I'll probably just take one class at a time until it's done. I also need to figure out what to do for my thesis. I like too many different things, hehe.

I only recently decided to try for a Master's in Latino Studies. I figure it's relevant, AND I can skip about a third of the coursework when I test out of the language requirement.

It'll probably take me five years, but oh well.

What is your degree going to be in?

I was planning on heading back next fall for my MBA, but somehow I think I might have my hands full and my pockets empty when the baby arrives. Might have to just push it back a while longer...

You know, about babies and school, I have been thinking about that one alot because it is pretty clear I am going to be in school until I am 30 or so, and my husband will be in school until he is at least in his early 30's; who knows if he decides to continue into graduate school. At first I decided that I was going to wait, for sure, until I graduated from law school, mostly because of money. However, people who have had children in law school (such as my dad) have told me that it is easier to have children while in school than if I wait and have them as a new employee of a law firm. You have so much control over your schedule as a student, it makes life easier. I don't know how it would be with working a "real" job and school though. I have always just assumed I would make my way through college with your average college student job (think coffee shop and bookstore), and those sorts of jobs have flexible hours.

I would hesitate on waiting to go back, though. My mother was going for her PhD in art history when I was born, and had finished all of the requirements except her dissertation (isn't that what it is called? I always get thesis and dissertation mixed up). She kept saying she was going to go back, but then my brother arrived, and she continued to put it off. Then credits she had towards her PhD went bad because it was more than 7 years, and it made her hesitate even more before going back. She has her MFA and has a good job in graphics design, but regrets not going back to finish very much so.

Nice "Goat", get a degree for me too while you're there.

I keep thinking about going back, but somehow it never happens :/

Good luck Aegis......I also share in the experience of going back to school. Started college at 18 then again at 25 and just started at 38 for my masters in C.E. Gets kinda bad to go to class and have the kids think you are the teacher sitting in the back row :)
