New home sales at an all time high...

Consumer confidence up as gas prices continue to fall...

Stocks could hit 11000 before the new year...

Man things just keep getting better.

Of course some don't have that option but they probably deserve it so why worry right?

I am glad that gas prices have been dropping. Although, they are still way up from this time last year, so, yeah. My husband has been keeping an eye on the prices, almost in an obsessive way. I usually ignore them, figuring I have to fill my tank anyway and I just don't want to know how badly my wallet is being hurt this week. He, however, comes home everyday with "at Stewart's it has dropped 2 cents since Monday, which means on post it is probably even less." He drives around looking for the best deal, which generally -is- on post.

But I wonder who exactly you think things are getting better for? The interest rate has risen on my student loans as of January. Tuition went up again. I can't afford to give my husband a christmas present. But hey, if the rich of America are feeling better, all is right with me!

Any time a man quotes the price on a gift I wonder about his motives.

Well, except for virus. His motives are like glass.

Factory-made, or handblown?

Couldn't be that those lazy bums made poor decisions and are now having to face the repercussions of those decisions.

Do you mean poor decisions like getting laid off from your job of 20 years and being unable to find another as your skill set is obsolete, and having to make the choice of feeding your family at minimum wage or going into debt to try to go to night school so that you can make slightly more than minimum wage?

Or do you mean lazy as in working two restuarant jobs in order to feed and clothe your kids and maybe even get them a little money for college so that they have an iota of a chance to escape the rung society has dumped them in?

Do you seriously think that everyone in the good ole US of A can be a stock broker or insurance salesman? Do you think this country would continue to run if no one served your dinner, built your houses, put out fires, changed lightbulbs, cleaned restrooms, sold movie tickets, rang up your groceries, and the 1000s of other menial jobs that allow us to live the way that we do?

Do you go day to day honestly believing that everyone who doesn't make 6 figures is doing so because they are lazy and make poor decisions?

Who do you think buys your insurance, virus? People that don't have the means to recover from the disasters you're insuring against. It's common every day Joe that allows you to lounge with your pitbulls in your okra field.

I know you feel that somehow God made you superior to the darkies and that you clawed your way from the bottom to the top of the world on your own blood, sweat, and tears. I know that you think that if you can do it anyone can. I'm just letting you know you're wrong, again.

Factory made, no question about it. Cheap, thick and brittle.

I get the feeling you're speaking from first hand experience. Did your wife ***** around behind your back? And most women wouldn't consider someone they care for buying them an expensive diamond ring a waste. Of course the 21 yr old cutie i've been seeing lately has been wearing me out so maybe i'll just get her a vibrator.

1- Wife? I'm married? news to me.
2- My fiancee would. That's why I got her a pink sapphire engagement ring. Diamonds are just falsely expensive glass
3- I got my fiancee a sex toy game instead of a vibrator, it involves both of us without too much wearing out, maybe you should give that a shot

I'd be interested in an intelligent debate with the OP, but I have yet to see him do anything but try to get a rise out of us lefties.

On a side note,

DONT FEED THE TROLLS!

that is all.

If you're working for someone for 20yrs and you don't have a clue how to move on once that ends yes you're an idiot, or a drunk. H*ll civilian truck drivers in Iraq make 70k a year, mostly untaxed. So ***** that bum who worked a job that has been replaced by a more efficient machine; he should have planned ahead. Instead you'd have him literally steal money from me because i'm successful and he caught a tough break.

Thats the kind of attitude that is killing this country. Some people are born to be stock brokers, some are born to be carpenters. Everyone that doesn't train for 3 different jobs instead of becoming better at the one they are doing is an idiot? Do I think that a lathe operator should make as much as the CEO? No, but I think we can have an economy that makes room for both. Instead of rewarding the CEO with tax incentives for finding ways of sending the lathe operators job to china for $.03 an hour because he doesn't have to provide basic safety, fair hours, or human rights for the chinese worker.

No, but I do think everyone the US has the oppurtunity to better their situation. Of course this means sacrifice which i've learned the majority of americans despise.

Here again you are wrong, EVERYONE CANNOT BE ON TOP. An economy cannot function like that. Someone needs to change the lightbulbs in the traffic lights, someone needs to plow the roads in the winter, someone needs to answer calls to 911. Everyone needs to have a function to fill in order to make a society. You cannot have 5,000 Insurance brokers and 5,000,000 beggers.

Quote:
Not at all but again should someone who does make 6 figures be charged with the care of those who don't? And yes if you've been at a job for 20yrs and you're not making 6 figures, unless you're an educator, you're a complete moran.

This is stupid. Again I'm not saying we should have 5,000 Insurance brokers and 5,000,000 on welfare. This again stems from your infantile view that everyone not in the upper class sits around collecting welfare all week. A society needs to ensure that it has enough jobs so that everyone willing to perform them can meet a baseline standard of living.

The people that buy your insurance are the people that do not have sufficient assets to cover their liability i.e. people that work for a living. The very wealthy do not purchase your insurance. They don't need it.

Quote:
So if someone fails to succeed it's my responsibility to care for them the rest of their lifes, and their childrens to?

No, but that is a nice strawman you have there. It is societies job as a whole to ensure that everyone willing to work can have an acceptable standard of living.
