For those who don't follow sports, Billy Wagner is one of baseball's top closers who was a Philly and is now a Met.
While I would love to have Wagner back in Philly, I completely understand why he signed with the Mets. They offered him far more guaranteed money. Simple as that. Who can blame him? Who wouldn't sign with the company offering the most money, especially when the difference is millions of dollars. There are very few people out there who would take a major pay cut to do essentially the same job somewhere just out of some sense of loyalty or something like that.
OK. So just say that. "The Mets offered me a hell of a lot of more money, so I took it". That's all you need to do. Why do ball players feel they have to lie about this?
"It wasn't the money... I felt this was the best chance for me to win a championship... I love the atmosphere of this place... My family feels most comfy here... It's all about team not myself" ********* It's the money. Just friggin admit it! When Joe public leaves his old job for a new one, he usually brags to his friends about how much more he is making. Why can't ball players do the same thing?
Repeat after me. "It's all about the money." There, that's better. That wasn't so bad now was it. Now let's play ball.
