Seems like the objection, as stated in the letter, would have been more to a muppetlike Aslan or a guy in a lion suit than a CGI (animated) one. I agree that the reporter doesn't know what the hell he's talking about.

One of my most cherished childhood memories is watching Narnia tv-series; make of that what you will...

I just saw a commercial on the making of Narnia on the Disney channel. From the scenes they showed, I must say I am impressed and look forward evenmore to seeing it than before. I have a feeling if C.S. Leweis had ever hoped to see his tale come alive this would be it. I can only hope they don't butcher the story. It was a beautiful tale and if you haven't read it you should

Anyone else read Lloyd Alexander's Black Cauldron (Prydain chronicles series)? As I recall, they were great, and thus could be great movies, but I was really young so...

I love the Prydain Chronicles books, but Disney ruin the chance at ever making a decent movie from the books with the cartoon version they put out around 20 years ago. I tend to worry whenever I hear that a book is being made into a film by Disney, but the trailers I've seen for The Lion Witch and Wardrobe, seem far better then their normal sugar coated remakes.

/nod Prydain Chroncicles was a good set of books and I liked that there wasn't a bunch of "spin-off" series from those books. The Disney cartoon movie was absolutely horrible. My husband loved that movie until I made him read the book and he saw where I was coming from on it.

Another series of books that I thought was supposed to made into a movie was the Dragonlance Chronicles. But I guess nothing ever came of that.

Any good book can be made into a good movie if you have the right people (cast and crew) working on it and the technology is up to par.

I'd see it. Well, provided it wasn't composed of 100% pure *** like the D&D movie.

Or perhaps an Aslan that resembled King Moonracer.

The reporter who wrote that letter, must have been stoned to the beejeezuz when he saw it, or just had lasik surgery, because all of the CGI's I've seen from the previews look pretty impressive.

If I remember that story, Aslan was made out to be a huge, powerful, lion.

I read that book in 6th grade, quite a few years ago. The description of Aslan, when Edmund sees him for the first time still impresses me.

I hope they do it justice, and I believe I will start collecting the books.

I bet that's why it's never been made into a movie. It would be pretty hard to do. And they'd have to do at least the original 6 books to make it right.

I want to see it. The advancements in CGI have made some movies possible that simply wouldn't have been without it.

As far as the whole Aslan as Christ thing, I simply ignore that aspect and take it as a standard mythical/fantasy/epic tale. It's not as if the bible is chock full of original story lines.
