D-Day for fliersFollow

#52REDACTED, Posted: Nov 28 2005 at 1:23 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Yeah I admitted the sock and said why and qualified it and whatever. You have yet to amuse me at all. It's as simple as taking candy from a baby. If you want to use such simple tactics, go to a kindergarten class room.

And yet you spent all night typing responses to me.

Excuse me if I don't feel like I'm the idiot here Smiley: laugh

#55REDACTED, Posted: Nov 28 2005 at 1:31 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Oh, I know what clinched it, the smiley face and the 4 plus rating. Sorry, I will now bow to your superior prowess. You're e-peen far surpasses mine in length and girth. Thank you for showing me the way to enlightenment.

Best part of this thread is that Shadowrelm probably thought there was 50+ responses regarding air travel.

LoL, isnt any kind of long distance travle this time of year worse just like any major holiday time of year? summer break, spring break, July 4th in the US, etc...
--------------------------------------------------

LoL, no.

the sunday after thanksgiving launches the period all the migratory canadians, all the snow birds from the north east, and all the europeans flock to differant parts of america

IN ADDITION

to your average holliday like july 4th.

the absolutly bussiest day is the sunday following new years day. last year we did a 11,000 traffic count in a facility geared for a 6 to 7,000 count.

and it stays moderate to heavy trafic the entire time between thanksgiving and easter, which marks the time all the snowbirds leave, the canuks go home, and the rest of america gets back to work for the grind.

suprisingly, summer is the slowest time of the year.

for those interested, we are all on 6 day weeks probably untill next summer. next year will be worse. i would go into details why, but suffice to say, we have our own Brownie running the FAA. a reasonably intellegant person with absolutly no experience or insight into this operation.

and like you, she doesnt see why any other holliday we go through is any differant than the dreaded thanksgiving to easter season.

we got lucky today. chacago, newark, and dallas had weather delays, and by the time they launched, the heavyest traffic had passed.

but enough about the problems of yet another Bush era government agency. like stop signs, it will probably take a collision to steer this train wreck back on coarse to safety over dollars, and we would rather work our 6 day weeks than let that happen. most of us anyway.

and overtime pay is around 100 dollars an hour.

I don't know what kind of weather delays we'd have had in Chicago; it barely drizzled here. I was at O'Hare earlier this evening and the boards were about 70:30 for on-time and late departures. Better than I'd expect for the holiday. Anyway, this past Wednesday is the busiest at O'Hare (217,000 passengers). I'm guessing because everyone arrives before Thanksgiving but then has Friday-Sunday to stagger their return trips.

Thread abandoned due to insufficient skill. Pawned off to boredom. Good duck and cover. I'm out, the thread speaks for itself to any rational thinker.

As a post holiday travel advisory wrap-up from the Tribune:

Most travelers flying in and out of Midway and O'Hare International Airport saw few snags Sunday. Nearly 1.8 million fliers were expected at both airports during the Thanksgiving weekend, with travel starting Wednesday and ending Sunday.

Sunday was the busiest travel day at Midway, with more than 68,000 passengers expected to come through the airport, said Wendy Abrams, spokeswoman for the Chicago Department of Aviation. Midway sees 50,000 passengers on a typical day.

More than 210,000 passengers were expected to travel through O'Hare on Sunday, a bump from its daily average of 206,000, Abrams said. She said O'Hare saw its peak travel Wednesday, when more than 217,000 people passed through the airport.
