I'm beyond the normal bored. I'm superbored.

My schedule over the next three weeks has me on the road (something I committed to do before receiving this new job offer) and when I come off the road I'm switching jobs, so I've done 95% of the stuff already. The only thing really untouched thus far is the desk I'm sitting at and the PC I'm typing on. The desk and chair are being picked up tomorrow morning.

I decided to make the move easier by divesting myself of everything I didn't want to keep badly enough to move two states. When I started making that list, I stopped and made a list of things I DO want to move two states. Then I weighed the cost of the move against trimming the list down to getting rid of everything that can't go in a single trip on my truck. then I called a few people I know and told them I was giving away everything from groceries to furniture. I made sure they showed up at the same time. Greed did the rest. I just watched that nothing I actually wanted to keep went out the door.

So, now I sit in a house where all my remaining belongings are in a single room. I feel like a monk who's taken a vow of poverty or something. The cat wanders aimlessly through the house sniffing bare places where things once were. When I make too much noise she hides behind the fridge, one of the few reaining objects she knows. Part of me wants to join her, but it's just the frightened child part that most of us carry around inside. Most of me just wants December 18 to get here so I can close the doors on this place, hand over the keys and close this chapter firmly and cleanly before opening the next one. I wouldn't even be exploring these feelings, but I don't feel like tugging on my manhood at the moment. Somebody do something entertaining.

My god, you did that so darn fast!

I have been stewing over the prospect of moving, yet mostly nothing has gotten done. We are getting rid of all furniture. It is expensive to move, and we obtained most for free because we were starving newlyweds. I am moving kitchenware, clothing, a coffetable (my only nice piece of furniture), and my artwork (which is also something I have put money into). That leaves alot to get rid of! I feel overwhelmed...

For me it was easy. I picked 1 Mormon (their church teaches and preaches resource management and sharing), 1 old ex-navy guy, and 1 alcoholic to come pick things up. I didn't tell anyone else, and told them to show up Yesterday at 3:30. By 6:00 they were all gone and so was the majority of the stuff. Three trailers loaded down, plus the bed of a pickup. The drunk and the old guy made another haul to finish getting things today that they couldn't haul yesterday. I made one trip to the dump, but I felt good about that, it was real junk.

The only thing I actually felt a pang about seeing go was the couch. I loved that couch. I just hated moving it. The recliners built in both ends made for a lot of extra weight. But I can buy a new one off the savings on the move. Plus, I'm getting a decent relocation check from the new company, and the fact that FL doesn't have a state income tax will pad me out a couple of grand as well. I don't think I'm going to feel any pain buying replacement stuff, especially if I can get me some free delivery in the deal.

I've been considering one of these. Anyone had/have one? I've read all the reviews online but I've never actually seen one in use. The concept seems right up there with sliced bread. Toss in the laundry, turn it on, come back later, pull it out washed and 90% dry. Hang/fold/iron and you're done.

I am trying to sell the stuff worth selling to help pay for the move. For instance, our washer and dryer have only been used a very short time - they spent an entire year just sitting in a storage unit. I want to have a yard sale, but there is so much snow out there, I don't see how. Garage maybe? Sounds like a cold proposition. I just hate trashing perfectly good stuff. We have a window unit air conditioner in the box with instructions that was used for like a month. Someone would pay for that. Lawnmower...kitchen table...that sort of stuff. If I keep typing I am going to stress my self out. To the liquer cabinet!

I considered selling my stuff, but really didn't want to get bogged down. I'm not exactly rolling in dough, but I'm single and have zero debt. I have all the flixibility that grants along with this crazy idea that I'm not going to buy a bunch of things just to have things now that I've managed to "get lean."

If I were you, assuming that there's time, I'd try to sell the more expensive items through a local trade paper. There are lots of those across the nation and many of them let you post ads for free. The cheaper stuff is harder, given the time of year.

Well! I suppose this thread was good, and bad. It prompted me to look at a calendar. Why is that bad? Because my stress level and therefore blood pressure just skyrocketed. I have 10 days left of classes before finals week. That makes me say wtf?!? Where did time go???? And I move right after finals week. So, then this is good because now I know that I need to get my butt studying and packing or else I am screwed.

To the liquer cabinet!

Edit: Nope. No real time...just the expensive stuff I think. It shouldn't be hard because there are always young privates getting married who are desparate for cheap household goods. I am just going to put flyers up at the PX. Like Monday.

Edit again: I would love to just say ***** it and not sell anything, but we had almost nothing in savings when this move came out of nowhere. All of our money has been going to put me through college at the moment. So, I have been counting on at least 300 bucks out of that washer/dryer.

Sounds like you'll be helping someone get a 2nd hand Xmas. No crime in that.

I've been caught with my pants down on time before. The last time I moved, I told the power company and the water utility to cut the power off at the end of the month. The end of the month was the 31st, on a Sunday. I planned to shampoo carpet, touch up a few spots on the walls, and make my final pass through the house on the 30th. I went in on the afternoon of the 29th and both were already off. Much panic and a couple of phone calls later I had the power back on. I hauled in all the water I used for shampooing. Fortunately I'd done the carpets fairly recently so lukewarm sufficed. I vowed that would be my last poorly planned move. I'd sooner give all my stuff away than execute a sloppy move because of pressing time.

I am so sick of moving. Fuck that, period! I will die in this house.

As for pulling on your manhood, here's my secret. Learn to shift a 10 speed Mack. Makes you a black belt at spankin yer crank.

Advice beyond that, and I'd have to charge.

I have nothing to add to the "pulling your manhood" debate.

But I am also Superbored right now.

Woohoo, and on a Saturday night, too. I just wish I had some entertainment to go along with this drunkeness.

I -was- at a friend's house, but the wife half of the couple is pregnant and tires easily. No more late night partying with them, I am afraid.

I'm so bored, I got in a Yahoo chat room.

Now, that's bored.

Heh! That is bored. I have read all of my usual liberal blogs, the FFXI forum, parts of the WoW forum even though I have never played the game, and am now venturing into tech support and forum system feedback. Mmmm...boredom.

Edit: Oh, and you can't forget hitting refresh numerous times even though no one is posting. I think this is signaling that it is time for bed...I just hate going to bed all buzzed because the bed always moves around on me when I close my eyes.
