I might have torn my meniscus in my right knee, and I have no idea how I did it. I woke up one morning last week, and my knee locked up; I thought at first I just slept on it funny. It hurts like hell. The fix is some surgery, but I am moving in a few weeks, so I figure the earliest I can do that is February. My guess is that it just happened because I have had chronic knee problems due to an injury as a teen, and army overuse. It's all swollen and I can't bend it well. But hey, I have vicodin! I just worry about living by myself and getting to class okay post-knee surgery...blah.
I tore my meniscus snowboarding one year in high school. The surgery wasn't that bad (at least it didn't
seem bad, this was 12 years ago), and the recovery was very short, I was on crutches for 2-3 days and I don't remember any physical therapy.
Probably would still want to hold off on doing it until after you move, but I wouldn't dread the operation.
