Boss hasn't been around all week.

Sales are through the roof over last years numbers. Bonus checks for upper management will be huge.

And I am stuck here at work with about 20 other SoB's and wondering why I continue to work for the man.

Who else is stuck @ work on the day after Thanksgiving??? Besides retail, that is.

Neither does the service. I'm in the vault with a poor civilian schmuck who's contracting company boned him for the holidays this year. That's what ya get for being a tech rep I guess.

I am!

I had to come in at 4:30 am (instead of my normal 8:00am) to help support all of the ad prices.

We had exactly 0 calls this morning...wasted day :)

At least I get to go home about 10:00am!!

Just a normal day for me, with the exception that I won't darken these doors again for a normal work day. I'm spending the rest of my time with the company on the road. I'm tidying up various things that they won't know how to handle when I'm gone at the moment. I'm making a short day of it as my ducks are all pretty much in sequence anyway.

Yep, at the office. Funny I have to sit here all day not doing anything, nothing, no orders, nothing! On the otherhand our lazy salesman can come in 2 hours late, fuck off in the office for an hour or two. Make 2 stops and be home by 2 or 3pm. They are not supposed to do this; they are supposed to work 8-5:30pm everyday. Why they get away with it, I'll never know...

Same thing happens where I work. A few salespeople come in late, talk and gossip their heads off, and then leave to make sales calls.

Of course, all their customers are closed so the calls the do make happen to deal with christmas shopping, bar drinking, and then home to sleep the afternoon away. I am not bitter. I was there once and I ***** off alot on days like this.

I have handled 4 calls this morning since 7:00am. Usual volume is about 50 by this time.

Boss is at home banging his white trash, gold digging wife, and not paying attention to their 16 year old daughter who probably spent the night getting packed by her boyfriend while drinking grain alcohol.

Cutting medical benefits without saying a word to employees while also driving around in a Brand new 50k SUV which the company paid for. Starting to get bitter.

At least I can go home after work to our house and relax with my wife and two golden retrievers while sipping wine that my job allows me to do. Guess I can't ***** too much but it sure makes me feel better....

Interesting things that have happened so far today:

1- Guy swearing at me because he doesn't want to pay for parking. The vast majority of people who stay in a hotel in boston are aware that everyone charges, but not over thanksgiving break. Everyone's ******** about it, and 2 people in 2 days have swore at me. One of which, was literally frothing at the mouth. Both of them got charged. Not wanting to pay for something isn't a ligitimate reason to have it adjusted off.

Also, be nice to the guy at the front desk, if they like you they will adjust it off. If you're an *******, you get nothing!!!

2- Guy just got dragged out of the hotel in cuffs. Apparently, he has a high risk of flight, so probate court will be escorting him to and from the judge while he stays here: in cuffs.

Well, that's a lot more interesting than anything going on here. My lowside profiler is all messed up, and my highside is stuck in some kind of wierd loop trying to write incoming traffic to the archive, which it fails to do with every single goddam message.
And, of course, there is no one at headquarters answering calls for my "WTF" line of questioning, so it looks like I'm just ****** until this dreary goddam holiday is over.

I hate thanksgiving.

I'm working today. Newspapers don't close (much) either. Not many here today though, and our next paper looks light, so I shouldn't have to work a full day.

I have to go in today. Today is of course the busiest day for a lot of other departments but I will just be catching up with work mostly. Wish I could take vacation but still, I'd much rather take it for Christmas or New Years than Thanksgiving.

Been busier than I expected. A few endorsements a few quotes. Guess it actually paid to come in this morning. Though I doubt i'll be here much into the afternoon if it gets quiet.

Paid day off here!

I've already done an hour workout, two loads of laundry, had turkey sandwhiches and cleaned out my baking cupboard (in preparation for holiday baking).

All that's left is to whip up a batch of Whoopie Pies to send back to college with the kid. Smiley: grin

Consulting for a major financial institution at the moment; the contract has an hourly rate, so here I am.

Where there are normally 100+ vehicles outside, today there are six. Building security didn't even bother to show up. Eeeeeeasy day.

I am stuck here at work today also, my boss decided to come in and dump a ton of work on me, which is delightful since the guy across the way is watching movies on his laptop. Well only 4.5 hours till I get to go home. Money says the boss won't be back in after lunch.

I'm not exactly stuck. I came in to get away from they psycho family that still lurks in my home. I swear to god, if I had to listen to my mother-in-law brag about how my brother-in-law's kids again, I would have been tempted to buy a gun just to ram it down my throat.

On a side note, I'm getting paid extra for working today. So I'd guess it's win-win.

Classes are out until Monday, had Wednesday off too. Husband has a four day weekend as well, so that is nice. It is snowing so badly though, I am sure we would have off anyway...how sad. What a waste of perfectly good blizzard.
