Those people are nuts. I was watching about that sort of thing on CNN this morning, but they only talked about a 5,000 dollar bid. I literally don't understand why you would pay that. I have enough issue paying 400 bucks for the system and the harddrive. I mean, I would do it if my husband wanted it (he is looking forward to the PS3 instead), but if they didn't have it in the store, and I couldn't get it online for a similar price, I think he would understand.

The guy who won had never won an item on ebay before and was a member less than 1 month. Probably not going to pay, but who knows.
There were two guys who were long term high rated bidders who bid over 10K including the guy who came in second.

I checked other xbox 360 for sale and the market appears to be flooded now. Tons are for sale, most that are ending this min at about 600-800 each, with only one up to 1K.

Seriously, I can't imagine paying $400 for a game system. I don't care if it plays DVDs and load MP3s and download photos to it. That's what I own a DVD player and personal computer for. You know how many times I played a CD on my old Playstation? Once. Just to see it work. You know how many times I'll think I need to use my four bill glorified Atari for a stereo? One less than times I played a CD on my PSX. I don't want an "entertainment system", I want a video game system and I want it at a price that says "video game system".

I do use my PSTwo in the bedroom as the DVD player, but that's only to save space.

Personally I wouldn't pay $400 for it, soley for the lack of game right now..in a year with the system is down to $300 or $250, it's in a little better range.

However, I really don't see myself getting any of the new gen systems...at least not anytime soon.

I wouldn't pay 12.9k for an Xbox if it sucked ****. It better do dishes, laundry, windows, as well as laying a golden egg each day for that kind of price.

I suppose if I used it rarely enough. But given that you can buy a perfectly capable DVD player for about $30 these days (half the price of a single game), I'd have a hard time getting excited about the feature or thinking it added value to the unit.

[Old Man]Back in my day, our video game system was an old log! You'd kick it and centipedes would rush out and sting you in the balls! And we liked it![/Old Man]

Are people that impatient that they need the XBox now? By the time the bidding ends and the product is shipped to your house, the stores will be restocked. Smiley: oyvey

The 'hype'for getting these new systems and the unrealistic market force they create,is hilarious. Why not just wait a year?

I still enjoy my playing my old PS2 and like the fact I can get many of the games dirt cheap and even cheaper if I buy them used, to me it is worth the wait.

Given the price of computers these days, I think it is really stupid to pay that for a console. But, my husband is an avid console lover, so we will probably shell out for the PS3. It will certainly be a big gift though, like birthday or something - we aren't just going to run out and grab it. The price is so painful though...I would still prefer to have a pc. Different strokes I suppose. He didn't understand why I wanted to pay what I did for my laptop *shrug*

If you have an XBOX 360 and don't put it for sale on EBAY for 12k, then you are a complete moron (assuming it actually sells at the price).

Save $500.00 in a bank account and pocket the remaining $11,500.

If you can make $11,500 on a video game and the only penalty is having to wait a few months till the supply can meet demand that why are you sitting hear reading these forums. Get on Ebay and sell the ****!!!

#14REDACTED, Posted: Nov 23 2005 at 11:06 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) lol what a merry christmas...I got in line early yesterday and bought 4 of those bad boys. Spent 1600 plus tax and gonna turn around and sell them for 5k or more. Man I love capitalism.

#17REDACTED, Posted: Nov 23 2005 at 11:38 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I only did it because I heard on the radio they would be selling for 1k...I didn't imagine they'd start going for much more. I'm going to hold onto them for a couple of weeks then see how much I can get for them.

Aren't Microsoft products fair traded? Wonder if Microsoft can blast Ebay for allowing the auctions.

<buzzer sound>

Incorrect!

With a Europe and Asia launch in the near future, the next widespread shipment in the US is not expected until January/February at the earliest.

3 of my Friends stayed outside of Best Buy from 9:30 pm till 7 am to get 3 of em. 2 were ebayed and the other I played on last night.

Its pretty nifty but not $400 impressive, the graphics and gameplay upgrades are nice, but when you are used to playing your xbox on a 44" LCD with component cables it isn't a massive upgrade ...

For those wondering, I have not heard if the 2 have sold or not, he changed one of the auctions from 3 day to 1-day to get a quick sale, I doubt it worked.

you forgot "Tickle Me" Elmo.

Super Hot at the time. Parents were getting into fist fights while running through the store to the display. Old women were being trampled when they got in the way.

That makes me laugh for some reason...

Meh, he didnt really forget those since he stated items from the 80's. Tickle me Elmo is the lame little brother to Cabbage Patch Kids in the toy market.

It is, but you easily get around that by selling the item in with another item that is not fair-traded, say my beautiful box of number 2 pencils. They are incredibly wooden and full of leady goodness which on auction by themselves would cost you $12,700, but if you buy them with this xbox which is only $400 i will give it all to you for $13k.
