Yahoo story on holiday travel

So, who all is going to be on the road later today/tomorrow?

I'm stuck doing a 300 mile drive both days so I fully expect to be doing a little tooth grinding and cursing in the next 36 hours. I'll get over it. Eventually.

I am supposed to be driving from Watertown, NY to Scranton, PA tomorrow morning and driving back the next day to eat with the in-laws. It's a 3 hour drive, not to bad, but the weather report is making me nervous. We have a lake effect snow watch right now, and they are calling for up to two feet of snow and white out conditions. I would suppose this would be from Syracuse on up, which is about an hour of our drive. From Syracuse to Scranton, they are calling for just snow, not the two feet variety. This is supposed to go on Thursday, Thursday night, and Friday. Bah.

My husband hasn't told his mother yet that he is deploying again. The plan was to tell her, in person, this weekend. Looks like she may get a "Hey! We can't come to Thanksgiving, but as a consolation prize, I am going to Afganastan!" Mmhmm, she will be thrilled.

I have to brave the hellish labyrinth which is O'Hare International Airport at Thanksgiving later today but it's to pick someone up and get the hell out. I'm staying in town, personally.

I have to drive 12 miles. Each way. I am not sure how I am going to be able to summon the mental fortitude to achieve such lofty expectations, but I'll muster up the courage and paitence somehow.

I'll be driving tonight and tomorrow. Tonight to the mountains to see the in-laws, then tomorrow back to Nashville to see my family.

Going next door. Oh, the pain.

If it's feasible I'll probably go back to Tennessee in January, though, for my nephew's birthday.

Minimal driving to go to the in-laws for dinnner (25 miles one way). I've lived in Michigan all my life, so I don't even try to ***** about the snow any more. I just drive through it and try not to flip my car over.

I get to stay home, and have people come to us, but have to shell out the money for turkey, shrimp, wine, beer etc. for the feast. I expect that it will be worth the cost just to have to not travel though.

Ok, you gobblers. I'm out of here in about 15min so if I'm not on before tomorrow, have an excellent Thanksgiving and may you and your families be safe. To you non-Americans, have a good Thursday regardless.
