So last night on Top Gear (British 'laddish' Car Review show) they introduced a Vauxhall Astra in sports trim that proceeded to hover above the ground then fly around the studio.

Awesome Telly!

Turns out a bunch of geeks have fathomed how to make a convincing replica of sports cars that are actually helium filled radio controlled replicas.

Linky

Girls - you wouldn't understand, but trust me, this is fucking kewl!

She made it in an EZ Bake oven and it was moldy and stale a week later but her dad told her it was "real nice".

The started playing Top Gear here in the States. I absolutley love the show.

The one where he tried to drive the Land Rover up the Scottish mountians was so funny! However, that episode holds no candle to the episode where they paid a minor amount of money for a porsche and had to drive them from London to <insert other British town here>...was hilarious!

The sick part is that he actually ate it.

That would be cool.

Top Gear (British 'laddish' Car Review show)

We get the re-runs of this program on 'The Discovery Channel' and I love to watch it. My favorite episode is when the one host raced the other two hosts from London to the south of France. He drove, I believe an 'Aston-Martin', and they took the 'Euro-Rail', and the car won.

British cars rock, especially the ones with the big V8 engines and the stylish interiors, beautiful cars.

London to Brighton in a £1,500 Porsche - Priceless.

Clarkson racing the other two to France - he in a Ferrari, they using trains and buses. Neat

The Scottish mountain climb was great, but want to hear the best?

After he completed the climb, Jeremy Clarkson got a helicopter ride to Glasgow Airport to fly home and told the Film Crew they could drive the Range Rover back. Theyt were so excited!

But.

When he arrived at Glasgow Airport, he had a text message asking where he'd left the keys to the Range Rover.

In his pocket! Smiley: lol

They didn't air that part on the episode I saw..unless I just missed it...that's great.

There was another one where of the guys bought a 1972 Dodge Charger. Everyone in the audience was stunned with the size of the car. He had trouble parking it and had to double check that his garage was large enough for it. That was a good one as well.

In this year's series Clarkson drives from London to Oslo (England, France, Belgium, Holland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway) racing Hammond and May who used power boats. Very, very funny.

This week they raced radio controlled cars (real ones!) Major smash-ups. Great telly

Do you get Mythbusters over there?

The drive (and crash) full size radio controlled cars all the time. That's another one of my fav shows. Also, the old Scrapyard Wars are good too. I used to watch those all the time when I lived in Sweden.

Those are neat! I want one!!!

One of my ongoing projects that is not completed is a (theoretically) 35' RC advertising blimp. I've got a carbon fiber blimp frame for the underchassis, 2 of the three electric motors and reducers I need, the GPS unit, Camera PTZ mount, and a jury rigged control computer. I want to replace the computer with one of these babies http://www.oqo.com/ eventually. I still need an envelope for holding the gas, 5 heavy duty servos, and some ultralight solar panels, but someday in the next 10 years it will fly! If i can get it finished, advertising gigs at car lots run about $100 per hour, more if you can provide real time video footage or commercial TV grade video. but i'm rambling. blimps have always fascenated me since i saw my first one at age 5
