"Respectfully, sir -- you know we're always respectful -- in your statement this morning with President Hu, you seemed a little off your game, you seemed to hurry through your statement. There was a lack of enthusiasm. Was something bothering you?" he asked.

"Have you ever heard of jet lag?" Bush responded. "Well, good. That answers your question."

The president then recited a list of things of that he viewed as positive developments from his Beijing meetings, including co-operation on North Korean nuclear disarmament and the ability to have "frank discussions" with his Chinese counterpart.

When the reporter asked for "a very quick follow-up", Bush cut him off by thanking the press corps and telling the reporter "No you may not," as he strode towards a set of double doors leading out of the room.

The only problem was that they were locked.

"I was trying to escape. Obviously, it didn't work," Bush quipped, facing reporters again until an aide rescued him by pointing to him towards the correct door.

The absolute best is the video of it. Bush is all grumpy and surly from not having enough sleep. He goes to reach for door and it wont happen. The for about a tenth of a second a look of pure confusion flashes across his face. It is priceless. That and the entire reaction afterwards.

You would not happen to have the link to the video? I can not find it on the site.

Falling down the stairs/off the stage is always a classic. This would have been funnier if his head had hit the door and he had yelled "D'oh!" or something of the like.

I saw the video this morning on CNN, but you can see some snapshots which are quite funny here. I thought the pics were actually more humerous than the video. I don't know how to link to a particular post in a blog, so you have to scroll down a bit, sorry. The pics are obvious once you hit them though.

Mongolia has 131 troops in Iraq and about 50 to Afghanistan in support of the U.S. war against terrorism, clinching its status as an ally.

"The Mongolian Armed Forces are serving the cause of freedom -- and the United States armed forces are proud to serve beside such fearless warriors," Bush said

While I'm sure the Mongolian Armed Forces are a noble and modern corps of dignified and brave young men, I can't shake the mental image of 131 men with those pointed fur caps and long mustaches, riding through Iraq on ponyback and harassing insurgents with their heavy shortbows.

I wanted to say I mainly remembered Mongolia for being the big "table" on a bas relief globe in grade school but now I'm wondering if I wasn't looking at Tibet.
