I hope "SC" means you currently live in the mountains of Scandinavia because if you're in South Carolina crying about the weather, I'm going to have to slap you.

Lakeland is the place for all the cool kids.

I don't particularly dislike SC, I was just lazy enough to steal the ***** MN theme. Smiley: grin Besides, we put the SC in *****.

I live in Charleston, the weather here today isn't expected to go below, what, 49?

That's great.

Its not our fault that the rest of you live in states with worse climates and higher real-estate prices.

And if TStephens leaves I'll have the state all to myself.

ehh, i feel your pain moving to Lakeland... pitfall of I4 corridor it is, well better then Hains City, but still.

Your about 1hr or so out from me. Just avoid having to travle INTO Tampa during any kind of rush hour as the I4 and I275/I75 interchange is a PITA to navigate for first timmers and just slow as all get out for those of us who know it.

You are about 1.5 - 2hr out from the beaches (both gulf coast and atlantic) and will have the small town feel without being hours away from a major city.

Welcome to FL...

as to the High today, we are expected to hit upper 70s to low 80s today with a low tonight in the 50s and by Wed. we have a cold front coming through that should bring the night time temp down into the low 40s with highs still in the 60s or 70s.

Actually, I like what I've seen of the area. There's a lot of development going on, but there's also enough poor white trash around that I don't feel out of my element.

LoL yeah, but to get to the development you have to get out into the fringe of Lakeland. The entire area between East Tampa (the docs and the seaport) east to just past Lakeland is largely populated with rednecks and white trash so to speak. In all good people, glad you are used to dealing with the redneck way of life *grins*

most of the action will be in Brandon a not so small town any more just West of you. Roughly 10-15min up the road unless you take Hwy 60, then it can take 30min or more depending on traffic.

I just got done whooping and hollering a bit. The offer letter arrived a few minutes ago and they kicked in a bit more than we discussed. Relocation expense went up some as did the salary, albeit not a huge amount. No complaints on my part. I don't even have a non-compete clause, not that I have any plans to jump ship. I am well pleased. Plus, to top it off, it looks like a bottomless well of work. To some people that's a bad thing, but I enjoy the challenge of juggling two dozen tasks and making sure they're all perfecto.

The fun part starts tomorrow. I get to give notice at my soon to be former place of employment. They've got me planned to be on the road starting this Sunday all the way through Dec 18. I'm giving my notice that Dec 18 will be my last day, which puts them in a tight spot. Either keep me out on the road and get those things done or have me at home training a replacement. Sucks to be them, but I don't have the luxury of giving them longer than that. It's a good bit of notice and I was adamant when interviewing that I needed to stay on long enough to complete this planned assignment. Overall, they're nice people that I'll miss, but I'll enjoy missing them more than I would enjoy staying.

To be fair to myself, I absolutely need to be working at my new place of employment before the New Year. I'll be damned if I'd miss out on bonus money (new place) because I shirked the year by a few days. I doubt they'd drill me on it if I do my job properly and we bang out the bucks as we should, but I prefer not to test anyone's forbearance.

gratz, and yes giving the current employer until the 18th of Dec. is more then ample time. most people only give 2 weeks or less.
