And what objectives are those?

Tactically we are winning, Strategically, we are winning, Politically, we are DOA, because Bush and his guys cant put together a clear explanation that cant be spun be leftists, and Bush bashers. (Hey Commander In Chief, remember Public Speaking 101?). And not going there in the first place, so we should have left Saddam inpower till he did actually do something horrible? Kept spending billions enforcing the No Fly Zone? Wait for the UN to pass yet ANOTHER resolution asking Saddam to comlply? You know when i was over there last year, I asked one of our translators what he was going to do when we left and he said "Why would you leave?" They really depend on us for stability and order right now. They are on a whole great people who just want to live thier lives just like us. I think they only place we are losing is the same way we lost Vietnam, in the media and idealogues who are still hot about the elections. And while 2 of the 2000 dead are my buddies, those 2000 are way less than other wars and most of those deaths are not combat related, unless u count IEDs. Im really frightened of what will happen to the military and the country if people are too scared to see a military campaign thru to victory, I'm not afraid to die in theatre, I knew the risks inherit in a military career, and so does my wife, who will be taken care of if something happens to me.

You are assuming that Saddam was a great threat to us to begin with.

Are you ignoring the possibility that pre-war intelligence was altered? Or maybe that certain things were played up by people in power to press us into a war with Iraq? I don't think possibilities such as those can be ignored, and if it is the case, how can it be justified?

Yes, he is. It's the only way he can sleep at night knowing he was helping drop bombs and white phosphorous on civilians.

U know this Prewar intel crap, there is no Proof of this, and if it is true, then how did we falsify intel from foreign intel agencies? I guess Bush can do anything then. And we have found chemical weapons over there but Mustard/Nerve agents aren't considered WMDs by the UN anymore. There are pics out on the web showing proof of this.

I don't think that the soldiers there are really concerned about "justifacation" and "political motives"..

after al, they are already there.. it doesn't amke a **** of difference either way.

I think that each soldier developes their own rationale on a more personal level as to why they are fighting and willing to die..

You tell them that it's for This or That.. BLAHBLAHB it's not going to make a differnce.. They are doing the job that they were asked to do.

You start telling them "you are theere for the wrong reasons!!" I suspect they would say somthing along the lines of "WTF do you know about reasons?"

They are in their own world, and people who are NOT fighting are in another one. We can afford to be criticle about the War and the administrations....

They cannot.. at the risk of believing that they are there for nothing.

You have to do everything you can to make good waht is bad. no matter waht it is.

Stuff I'd like to know too. It's too bad that my senator, Susan 'fucking hack' Collins wont start an investigation.

#120REDACTED, Posted: Nov 22 2005 at 1:21 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This is precisely why the Dems, and specifically the liberals, have lost any semblence of control in the govn. With the mass mediums the mainstream media isn't able to shield their stupidity like they once did.

I'm not anti military. I'm anti pointless military action. I'm anti stupid fucks who blindly support it simply to justify their existance.

Just to clarify, I am not really sure it was used on civilians, per se, I think it was more lobbed into the air to illuminate without regard as to where it would land. Which can amount to the same thing.
