38 degrees. Yeah, it doesn't sound that bad. Actually, having lived in Alaska for about 4 1/2 years it isn't that bad. Except....

I live in Austin, that's in Texas for you geography buffs.

That being the temp I heard on the radio when I was taking my son to school this morning. I knew it was chilly outside, but 38? WTF?

I moved here because even Northern California was a bit too cold for me after putting up with Alaska for so long. They are saying we are setting record lows with this weather. I say I'm moving to south Florida.

Anyone know a real estate agent?

Yeah, but do you live in the southern portion of Texas? If I was in Alaska still, I wouldn't be saying a damn thing. But Texas? Seriously?

On a relatd note, how come when women, namely your S.O. get cold, they think it's ok to stick their hands in your shirt and/or pants to warm up their hands?

"oh honey I'm freezing come here for a minute" if it was anyone else you could safely kick their *** with no worries of reprisal. Since it's your woman, I either get cold hands stuck to my chest or use the ********** no it's cold get the hell away from me" approach.

It pisses her off, but it keeps me a bit warmer :D

btw since many people fail to realize I am joking, this is my disclaimer. I stand there and take it then go **** and moan about it on a forum where she cannot see it. I am rarely to be taken seriously on Allakhazam.

Why do people insist on going to Florida still? Why can't we just abandon it and put up barbed wire or a 10 foot brick wall to block it from sight or give it to the Cubans or something. Florida sucks, move to Arizona instead.

Well the obvious answer is that God hates you and has shifted global weather patterns in an effort to smite you. Probably as retribution for posting on the asylum or not paying for the epic mounts of Tsujigiri.

I like this answer best. Thank you for helping me.

I have earned my right to be a ******. After more times than I care to count of sleeping on the ground in a bag in 40 below, losing all feeling in my feet from mid arch on down and watching my spit bounce across the ground when it hits because it froze midair, yeah I'll take GIGANTIC ****** any day of the week. :)

the rest of you were completely useless =P

Part of Alaska owns us all. The south coastal area is USDA Climatic zone 7a through 5a which isn't any colder than most of the northern US (Chicago is zone 5a). Hell, at 7a, there's varieties of palm that are still hardy.

Fairbanks is damned cold though -- I'll grant you that Smiley: grin

Yeah, AK just isn't that bad in the Anchorage area. I worked outdoors in the winter and didn't dress up that much. Dry cold just isn't that bad.

As far as why it's cold around your particular area, that I can answer a bit more specifically. God does not hate you and did not shift the global weather patterns to ruin your day. I did.

I don't hate you either. You can be warm again for a nominal fee. I accept Visa, MC, Discover (no AmEx, sorry) certified check, money orders, or even cash. Personal check by prior approval only and must wait ten days to clear.

Ball's in your court, friend.

I agree with you filter. I live in dallas and ime not too excited about the weather myself.

A co-worker complained about the office being to hot a month back and it has been sub-artic ever since. So, I really am freezing.

I've always found sticking my hands under her breasts to be the best thing to warm both my hands.

I save the other area for when my brain gets cold.

My man does this too. And while he thinks he's being "cute" let me assure you there is nothing that will kill a mood faster than having icy cold hands gripping your ta tas

No gripping, just gently snuggled underneath. I think you'll need a pair of C's or better for full effect though.

I can't even afford premium right now... how the hell can I afford to get my weather fixed?

This is an injustice most foul.

Yes it gets cold in the south. The two big differences between living up north (upstate NY) and in the south (Mississippi)is lack of snow, and a significantly longer summer season.

And while it does get cold, it will bounce back quickly. Once it is cold up here, it generally stays that way.

Today we are getting the first snow of the year. Lake effect snow warning in effect, 6 more inches, blah blah. I keep standing at the window and staring into the backyard with my nose pressed against the glass. It is snowing so hard it looks like grey fog, and it seems so quiet outside. I had forgotten how beautiful snow was. I am going to miss that.

So far Mr.Katie hasnt tried the warming them under the ta ta's trick. Though that could be because I wear sports bras more than those girly lacey things.
