Quote:
Authorities are searching for two convicted murderers who escaped from the Iowa State Penitentiary by using a homemade grappling hook to scale an unguarded section of the prison's limestone walls.

State Sen. Gene Fraise said he was told by prison officials that the inmates somehow got around a wire that is supposed to activate an alarm when touched. The wall also had razor wire, he said.

Ok, so the guards were taken off the towers and replaced with.... a wire?! WTF are people in charge of budgeting thinking?

they could afford to cut about 2/3 of the overall national spending on prisons...

all they gotta do is pardon every last non-violent drug offender. Then they could spend more money on education, which would reduce crime in the long run anyway.

seems so easy.

edit. OMGWTF i spelled a word wrong.

They decided a new color TV and cable was more important for the prisoners.

You choose. I don't care.

At least i made an attempt to contribute to the topic, whereas you only managed to insult my misspelling in one post and then misspell an insult in the next. Bravo.

IIRC the dept. got more money than they requested for their budget. They did this as a money-saving idea, not as a measure to work within reduced means forced upon them by a slashed budget.

Doesn't really change the events or what caused them, but it throws a different light on the budgeting process and who's ultimately to blame.

I know who I blame: the two tards that broke out. Breaking out of prison should be punsihable by death. I don't care if you're in for unpaid parking tickets, if you go over the wall, you should be fair game for anyone to bag. Hell, I'd buy a license for that, so long as nobody expected me to clean em and eat em if I shot em. (That was the primary reason I didn't like squirrel hunting as a kid. Once my old man relieved me of that limitation, I started shooting a lot more critters.)

Nothing was misspelled, Moran, try and grasp the irony if you can.

Better yet go back to writing guides on 'How to trick a moogle into fu[/u]cking you', and share your wit in the land of 'tear-stained thought journals' and Ffxi.
