This is a multi part question, hope it makes sense:

I'm broke, so for Christmas I want to take the umpteen million digital photos of the family and burn them to a dvd. I would like to have the dvd have a slideshow. I understand this is fairly easy to do in iMovie, and I can go onto campus to use this program, but I'm super lazy and short on time. So, does anyone know of any freeware that I can download to my PC that does this?

Second, my digital camera also takes short video clips, and I would also like to add those to this DVD. Of course, I want the dvd to play in a dvd player, I want there to be a menu where folks can click "play slideshow" or pick one of several video clips to play. I have never done anything of the sort before, tips/directions please!

Thanks so much,

Nexa

Allot of times the software that comes with your DVD burner will allow you to make a slideshow, like a Kodak picture CD sort of thing.

Seven bucks will buy your friends and family the gift of love with their very own Sea Monkeys!

Or buy one pack, raise them yourself and give each person a single Sea Monkey. Now that's savings!

I think Kodak Easyshare might do it. I've got the software (came with my camera) and IIRC there's something in the File menu about burning CD/DVDs.

I haven't bothered burning anything as the pics I collect are for my enjoyment and other people would just find them boring. Sad that I'm in the minority that understand this. ;)

*hisses at TStephens*

Everyone wants to see pictures of my baby! EVERYONE!

Actually, they do, and I've been very, very bad about getting pictures to people so I'm hoping to make up for it. I'm also giving them CD's with pictures so they can just get whatever they want printed and stop harassing me.

P.S. CHOCOLATE TRUFFLES, not mushrooms. Bleh.

Take a peek here:

Can't recommend any personally as I've never used them, but each has a review, a rating, etc. to base a decision off of. Find one that has a free trial (or is itself free entirely) and go to it.

Nexa, try see if the "HTML slide show generator" power toy here http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx will work for what you are looking for.

edit: also, for the second part, try downloading the Nero 7 free trial. it's time limited, but during that time it has full dvd burning and creation functionality.
