I've been fighting a cold this week and it hit me hard when I woke up this morning. I'm getting ready to take my son to school, and I made a pot of coffee to take some with me on the road. But when I took a sip it tasted awful! I made it the same way I always do but for some reason it just tasted very watered down, like I couldnt actually taste it. Needing to take some medicine I decided to try some juice. I couldnt taste that either. It looks like my taste buds went on strike today with my cold.Smiley: frown

Well you shouldn't be drinking coffee if you're sick anyway! You should be sticking to water and orange juice and maybe herbal tea. You should also be sleeping as much as possible!

Yeah this fall weather is hell. 35 in the morning 65-70 during the day and 50 at night. My body is very confused as is our thermostat.

It's because the fates don't want you drinking coffee. They want you to drink tea with honey and lemon. Duh.

Actually, whenever your nostrils are plugged it will dampen your sense of taste. It's easy to replicate, just take a bite of some food while pinching your nose and you will notice the lost sense of taste.

I usually clear out my sinuses by eating incredibly spicy food. There's a local Korean place (well it used to be local, it's Too Damn Far now) that I'd go to and get the buckwheat spicy noodles. Would clear me out in a jiffy.

Of course, ******** fire the next day wasn't much fun.

It's not harmless. You are a bane on the human race. You could fuck up my mood as effectively as draino cures heartburn. This is a forum where the big people post. Take your 12yo. drivel back to the FFXI forum where you and your '1337' friends can give each other reach-arounds after a nice session of tea bagging and homoerotic pleasure. If you know what is good for you will take the example set by your posts here and simply slip under the filter never to be heard again.

Get Better soon DSD. I'm fighting a cold as well not that anyone cares. But what usually works for me is boiling water and smelling the vapor seems to clear the sinuses for a few hours.

Thanks for the well wishes. Don't worry about my son getting it he's the one who gave it to me Smiley: glare

I've had nothing but tea and toast all day and while my tatsebuds are starting to think about working again the rest of my body is telling me to fuck off. I can live with that. I made the OT because I dont think I've ever lost my sense of taste before when sick, at least not so much that it made a huge difference. Hell, I didnt even know that could happen. So I was completely bewildered this morning when it hit me I couldnt taste my coffee or even juice.
