Not too sure about the education part, but as far as free health care goes, the Canadian-turned American at my work filled me in on how that all works. Turns out that Canada's health care system is relatively flawed when it comes to getting people what they need. She told me about how her mother needed a certain surgery and that because it's free, everyone must go on a list. To keep it short, the list is what keeps people from getting what they need, when they really need it. ("You're on Mr. List, butchyoo gotta wait for everyone above you to get their's first.")

Irony is, after discussing all that with her, I realized how nice America's health care can be. While it may cost people tons of money for the care, there's light in the fact that things get done quicker because of it. When it comes to health, time is very important.

Ture, some aspects of our health care system suck I'll admit it, but at least I dont have to pay $400 just to walk into an emergency room.

I'm going over to the S.O.'s since my family usually doesn't celebrate it. For a couple of years now we've made a half-hearted attempt, but it's usually no different than any other weekend.

not sure yet. Usually we go to my MIL's house but she was invited, along with us, to my husbands aunts house. I guess they have a massive feast there with over 40 people. Kind of daunting for me since Im used to very small Thanksgivings where you actually know everyones name. I'll probably know about 5 people there.

When I was younger I use to take childrens candy. It was so much easier than walking house to house.

As for tgiving, just another day off work with good food.

I look foreward to thanksgiving cause it gives me a chance to force my in laws to eat some odd dish I found in the recipe stack. I usually have to do the cooking for them as they are getting older and their cooking skills really just amount to serving a turkey brown on the outside and bloody on the inside. Since I do all the cooking I always make one special dish that is usually odd. I am thinking this year I will make blood sausage or borscht.

As for tgiving, just another day with good food at the homeless shelter. I do love the library computers, but I keep getting kicked out for yelling at the screen.

Fixed.

Made well, borscht is delicious, actually.

I don't know where I'll end up this year for Thanksgiving. Probably at one of my sister's homes. We just hang out with the siblings who can show up, yuck it up, play board games, eat frightening amounts of the ultimate comfort/celebration food and catch up on the latest family news.

This is usually the time of year I become depressed, and search for a belt fed weapon.

Turkey dinner at the parents' house. Plus my mom's made from scratch pumpkin pie. Nov. 1st means the jack-o-lanterns get cut up and baked so she can scrape the baked shells and use it for pies for thanks giving.

I’m so glad I have Thanksgiving and the Friday after off this year.

Cooking the meal for family & friends (hoping to prepare some of the stuff the night before) and then volunteer at a soup kitchen.

Free health care is a great idea but let's face it, we haven't exactly heard of any great medical discoveries coming from Canada (Free health care = underpaid physicians)

At least they allow underage drinking, whiskey cures what ails you.
