Folding@home

This link leads to a distributed computing program (it's homepage) that is setting out to work on cancer and parkinsons and shit. I'm tired, or I'd give a more flowing description of it. Its run by stanford, and is completely computer safe.

I started an Asylum team, if anyone is interested. If you opt in, enter 46968 in the team # box when you configure.

Neat. It's like the SETI thing, just better.

Yeah, it's really non invasive on your computer too, if you decide to open up a program or something, it will reduce its cpu usage significantly. The only time I need to turn it off is when I play EQ2.

? It's really really easy. Just start it up and go. Make sure you right click the flower icon next to your system clock (I'm a pompous *** and assume you use windows) and click configure, set a user name, and the team number.

It does everything else on its own.

Oh, it takes a day or so for the team stats page to get updated. So if you check it out now, it will be blank.

I'd be happy to join in, but it seems that when I have the program up it causes whatever I'm trying to play to minimize, booting me out to the desktop. I looked through the settings, but I couldn't find anything that might fix this.
