Story

I bet I would have known this girl in high school.

Quote:
BOAZ, Ala. (AP) — A Boaz High School freshman who wrote an essay proposing a "Killer Day" when everyone would be allowed to kill two people to relieve stress has been charged with making a terrorist threat.

The 14-year-old girl, who also wrote that she wanted to kill President Bush, was arrested last week and is scheduled for a Nov. 1 hearing. Court officials declined to release her name or provide other information Wednesday, citing the confidentiality rules of Alabama's youthful offender law.

Boaz Police Chief Terry Davis said students were to write an essay in an English class last week on a new federal holiday they would like to see Congress pass.

I'm more worried that she didn't see the mathematical issues there.

I bet she doesn't go to prom.

Anyway, since when is proposing a day in which everyone gets to kill two people a "terrorist threat"? Sure, it's a stupid idea on a great many levels but it's not really engaging in terrorism by any stretch of the imagination.

Man, if they start arresting everyone who exhibits poor taste, the entire flyover will be empty.

It was probably the kill President Bush part that got her arrested. Threatening the life of the President (regardless of the fact he's already brain-dead) is a Federal crime.

since when is saying you would want to do something a threat? I can see if she actually made out the plans to do it, but it isnt stated that she did. Hell, I want to rob a bank and make off with lots of money some days, but that doesnt make me a robber. It's not like she called in to someone and said she was going to. Shes a fucked up teenager, but I doubt shes a terrorist.

Sorry DSD but bloodwolfex is right.
You can say you want to kill the president, but it is a crime to do so. Especially in writing

Even as a statement, you can be arrested and charged, same for yelling fire in a crowded theatre or shark at the beach. Inciting panic can get you thrown in.

That's free speech for ya.

I'm curious as to why someone felt the need to rate me down. I hope they tried the link in my signature first.

Maybe they did, and that led to the rate-down? Smiley: dubious

I'm not sure how saying you'd like to kill someone in office is the same as inciting panic.

The law against threatening the life of the President or the VP is a separate statute altogether.
