Funny. I always thought it was the other way around.

Nah, not even the Mormons are bad enough to deserve Utah.

Hit the Keys this morning.
Quote:
NAPLES, Fla. - Hurricane Wilma plowed into southwest Florida early Monday with howling 125 mph winds and dashed across the state to the Miami-Fort Lauderdale area, shattering windows, peeling away roofs and knocking out power to millions of people. At least one death in Florida was blamed on the storm.

By 11 a.m., Wilma's winds had dropped to 105 mph and the hurricane was centered out over the Atlantic, about 15 miles northeast of West Palm Beach. But the big storm was still slamming the state. Hurricane-force winds of 74 mph or more extended up to 100 miles from the center, and tropical storm-force winds over 39 mph stretched up to 260 miles.

R.I.P. Eodus, you were like a brother to me, well until you had the X's removed from your name anyway.

My family (sans me) is going off to Disney/Orlando on Tuesday evening. I was just happy to see Wilma is projected to be wandering the Atlantic somewhere well off of New England by the time their plane would be leaving.

How are forrest fires NOT a natural distaster?

Alot of the forest fires that start in Arizona are caused by man: Ranches burning debris & I remember there was at least 1 started by a firefighter that wanted something to do. What Alyette is forgetting are the locust swarms that come every so many years.

Talked to a couple of people in Miami this morning...

First one told me that Wilma took care of all four trees in his front yard that survived until now. The eyewall crossed about 2 miles north of him so he had sustaiend winds all day long.

Second one said it was not so bad. Where he lives, the eye passed over and they got a pretty good break for a while.
