Probably my all-time favorite film is Young Frankenstein.

I saw it at the theater when I was 11 years old with my family. Over the years, I have probably seen it 50+ times.

Since we own the DVD, we make it a Halloween tradition to watch it each year.

What are your favorite films for Halloween?

Oh, and one more thing...

...Blucher!! (Horses whinny in the background)

No, Holiday Inn is a film for all seasons.

well...most seasons...

It doesn't have Gene Hackman lighting a monster's thumb on fire after spilling hot soup on it's crotch, so it doesn't count.

I wish I was able to link the actual sound bites from the linked site in the opening post, but I think they are only downloadable from there.

For poops and giggles, here is one of my favorite scenes from the actual script (the movie version is better).
Quote:

IGOR
Frederick Frankenstein? (In the
movie, it's, "Dr. Frankenstein?")

FREDDY
Fron kon steen!

IGOR
Are you putting me on?

FREDDY
No, it's pronounced Fron kon
steen.

IGOR
And do you also say Fro dereck?

FREDDY
No, Fred ereck.

IGOR
Why isn't it Frodereck Fronkon steen?

FREDDY
It's not. It's Fredereck
Fronkonsteen.

IGOR
I see. (In the movie, he says, "Suit
yourself, I'm easy.")

FREDDY
You must be Igor.

Igor thinks a moment.

IGOR
No, it's pronounced Aye gor.

FREDDY
But they told me it was Ee gor.

IGOR
Well, they were wrong then,
weren't they?

FREDDY
You were sent by Herr Falkstein,
weren't you?

IGOR
Yes, that's right. My grandfather
and your grandfather used to pal
around together. You and I should
have a lot of laughs.

(In the movie, he says,"My
grandfather used to work for your
grandfather.")

FREDDY
I'm sure we will.
(In the movie, he says, "I
see." or "Excellent" (something like
that).

(Frome the movie - IGOR
"Of course, the rates HAVE gone up."

FREDDY
"Of course! Um, I don't mean to
embarrass you, but I am a brilliant
surgeon and I can help you with that
hump."

IGOR
"What hump?"

I used to be able to recite every line from the movie. Good times.

Nobody mentioned what was their favorite Halloween movies, aside from "Holiday Inn" and "It's a Wonderful Life". Smiley: tongue

Come on, anyone? Bueller?....Bueller?.....

Sleepy Hollow, Halloween, and Phantasm which scared the crap outta me when I was a kid. Halloween is also my birthday so I get to make my wife watch a godzilla movie or two.

Just an FYI, the "Suit yourself, I'm easy" came a bit later.

Terri: Werewolf!
Gene: Werewolf?
Marty: There, wolf. There, castle.
Gene: Why are you talking that way?
Marty: I thought you wanted to.
Gene: No, I don't want to. (or something like that)
Marty: Suit yourself, I'm easy.

<3 Young Frankenstein.

See? This is why we need to watch "Young Frankenstein" this weekend. It's been a few years since I've seen it and I'm losing my touch. Thanks for the correction, Nad!

I guess I'm just old, but I prefer a book:

Roger Zelazny, A Night In The Lonesome October

Amazon.com

Any enjoyable read at any time, but very good on a windy October evening.

Young Frankenstein is great, one of my favorites also.

I like the Evil Dead trilogy especially the third one. Ash's personality and cheesy lines make me laugh.

This year I'll probably watch:

Young Frankenstein
Evil Dead
Army of Darkness
Amityville Horror
The Ring
Saw

I also like to browse the channels to see what's going to be playing.

If any of you have cable/dish, AMC is doing a 9 night frightfest. They actually have a nice selection of both good and cheesy horror movies. I am a glutton for the Friday the 13th series, even though they are pretty bad. If you get a chance check it out, definitely some classics shown!

Yep, that was in my sig for a while. And yes, those are also great Halloween movies. I've got the collector's edition on DVD. Good stuff.

I was also going to mention Attack of the Killer Tomatoes but I figured few would know about it. And to be honest, I haven't seen that one in years.

Killer Clowns, Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, and the book, A Night in the Lonesome October...sounds like a fantastic weekend to me.

I'd throw in the movie 28 Days Later as well, however.

Perhaps Alien as well.

Not a single mention of the classic Universal horror films?

Frankenstein
Dracula
The Mummy
Bride of Frankenstein
The Wolfman

Not that I don't enjoy the new ones too, but really, these are tough to top.

Just for that, cousin Eddy goes back in as my avatar.
