Charles Rocket Cuts His Own Throat

Harsh way to go...

Ex-'SNL' Comedian's Death Ruled Suicide
Oct 17, 9:39 AM EST

The Associated Press

FARMINGTON, Connecticut -- Charles Rocket, a comedian and actor who appeared on "Saturday Night Live" and had roles in a variety of movies and television series, committed suicide, the state medical examiner has ruled.

Rocket, 56, whose real name was Charles Claverie, was found dead in a field near his home in Canterbury on Oct 7. His throat had been cut, the medical examiner said.

"An investigation determined there was no criminal aspect to this case," State Police Sgt. J. Paul Vance said Monday.

Rocket was a cast member on NBC's "Saturday Night Live" during the 1980-81 season. He gained notoriety when he was fired from SNL for swearing on the air.

He went on to appear in numerous TV shows, including "Moonlighting" and "Max Headroom," and provided voices for cartoon series. His movie credits included "Earth Girls are Easy," "Dumb and Dumber" and "Dances With Wolves," according to the Internet Movie Database.

I would hardly call it "harsh."

That guy had some balls. I only wish I could do something so bold

I love that last part. It's like the writers were collectively saying "Charles Who?" and then admitted they had to look him up because no one had a clue who he was.

I did a Yahoo image search, because I wasn't sure who he was either. I got one pic. The rest were of Charles Barkley Smiley: laugh

I think we're on the same page here. Harsh meaning pretty brutal way to go - not sure where you would imply that it was not a ballsy way to go. Hell yeah it took some balls or at the very least, he certainly was determined to do this.

Yeah, he also did the Weekend Update news thing too. I actually thought he was pretty good on Moonlighting as David Addison's (Bruce Willis) brother.

Celebrity suicides like this makes me wonder why he offed himself - depression? Some unreported medical diagnosis (i.e., terminal cancer)? Or maybe he simply wanted to see what's on the other side. I don't need to know, but the curiosity is there.

Then again...what if it was MURDER MOST FOUL?!?!

Yes, I read too many mystery novels as a kid. Still do.

Good riddance. Too many douchebag celebrities moving into CT anyway. Him and Dennehy should have had a suicide party.

I was close. The opera is called Pagliacci, but the clown is Canio.

The opera is Pagliacci (the composer's name is Leoncavallo). The character's name is Canio and the aria is called "Vesti la giubba."

Did Dennehy off himself? Can you blame him for living where he's from? Not like he's Tom Cruise or some other paparzzi magnet...

Smoggy, I clicked on your link for the sad clown and about.com gave me a pop-up window that had related links. It was a link to Election 2004.

Sadly, no Dennehy didn't commit suicide. I'll never give up hope though. Bridgeport doesn't count. While located in CT, it's actually part of NY. He also didn't live in Bridgeport, he lives/lived(i believe that he recently sold the place) in Woodstock.

Irritating cunt I tells ya. Nothing like pulling up to a small town diner in a limo; blends right in taking 4 parking spaces next to the Jeep Wrangler and the Ford Escort.

Strange, I just clicked the link again and took me to the info site specified. There IS a big advertisement box that you see, but if you scroll down to the rest of the page, the info is there.

No, no... the link took me to the right part of the site... it was a pop up window that suggested a link related to "sad clowns" was the 2004 Election.

I'm at work on a very old computer, and have no pop up blockers, so I see all that crap
