I'm in the same spot with games. Simply waiting for the next batch to come out, whether it ends up being Vanguard or D & D or LOTR online, I don't know yet.

Nah at the minute I'm busy trying to kill a sock puppet. Niobia has a new one named Sloppymilkshake. Though after the day I had today with the family, I may actually enjoy myself a nice mixed drink before bed.

I am looking soo forward to Vangaurd. It sounds awesome. I really think that will be the next "big one" for gaming. I dont really think D&D will last for long, especially if its overly complicated for the beginner. I think we are getting more into a generation of gamers who didnt grow up with D&D, they grew up with sega and xbox. I just dont know.

Niobia...

What an cnut /nobby

Either way, I thought it was pretty cool, I was more shocked than trying to flame you. If you give FFXI a try you would probably like Black Mage; it's my chosen class, and you definitely blow **** up alot (with fire even lot of the time).

Try Morowwind too, that is the definition of a time sink. Also an amazing game, and you could potentially create a class called Fire Wizzard if you so desired.

See with that game, if you don't like the classes they give you from the start, you just make your own, pick your dominant and backup skills, and have at it. Spells are also creatable, as are custome potions and enchanted armor. You could just pick a class with skill in distruction and conjuration or something and create a ******** of fire spells. Would be the absolute pinnacle of an MMO if they ever put it online.

Oh! That does sound interesting! I like the idea of custom spells and potions.

Yeah, I was really dissapointed with the fact that the spells sort alphabeticly, and since you can only have one at the ready at a time, it made it hard to switch in combat sometimes. So I just made new ones that sorted into categories like Elemetal Attack: Fire or Elemental Attack: Ice. You could probably just make one labeled Big Fu[/i]cking Ball Of Flaming Doom though too.

I also personally believe the game to be unfinishable. Not unbeatable, the main quest is nice and the ending is very rewarding, but I don't think anyone in thier right mind could ever do every single quest and see every part of the map. Quite literally, you can go anywhere you see, kill anyone you meet, and join any side you choose.

hmm that sounds cool. One of the main things that keeps drawing me back to DAoC is the Realm vs. Realm. I like that we actually have castles and towers to claim. I like that its not just mindless killing but often has to have stratigies and teamwork to defeat either of the other two realms. I like that we have a special dungeion and bonuses for whom ever holds the most towers and keeps. I love the adrenaline rush of two 8 man groups going toe to toe for a tower. Ah.. I miss that.

You won't get 8 man groups in Morowwind, but there are definitly factions to join.

You have guilds for different classes and also houses to join in the government, and there are lots of quests where you will be raiding someone elses base, guild, whorehouse etc.

You will at one point or another get a stronghold to store all of the assorted swords of doom thingy +1s you get as well.

People either love Morrowind or hate it, because of the complexity and open-ended nature of the game. As Pensive said, you can start with any race and make any kind of caster and/or fighter out of your character. And, although you choose certain major and minor skills to begin with, those only determine how you level. You can still learn any skill in the game to max level, regardless of your major/minor trees.

The graphics don't thrill me, but that's about my only quibble. For a single player game it rules.

I did DAoC to lvl 50 over on Galahad/Albion.

Go get World of Warcraft, roll yourself up a Mage on a PvP server and you would be amazed. Especially once you get into Battlegrounds, you will see RvR as laughable after that.

Plus PvP is well balanced in WoW. Also Mages in World of Warcraft have this spell

Somehow I see you the type that will fall in love with the game the first time you absolutely crush someone in PvP.
