I would Buy a few houses for my family and close friends, quit my job, go on a 12 month holiday and then when i got back to the the UK i would:-
1: Buy some more houses to rent out to people, for imediate income
2: Get some training in house renovation, plumbing and such like
3: buy a house that needed work doing to it, an experianced builder to be site manager and work under him on the house. Sell that house for a huge profit and obtain a sence of achivement.
4: rince repeat untill i could handle it myself, and then go solo untill i got bored.

if you hired an experienced person to do it odds are you wouldn't make a huge profit. alot of the profit in real estate like that is doing it yoursefl with a few hired hands.

If your refewring to the powerball thats not a PA only lottery. No one hit the powerball and now it is an estimated $340 million for Wed. I wouldnt quit my job, I would just become alot harder to manage.

I'd split up 250mil of it and put it in various banks across the country with good interest rates. I'd chop it up into twelve chunks of aproximately 21million and distribute each 21 million dollar chunk to different banks one month at a time.
I'd take the other 40million and live off of it for a year until I started raking in the interest payments off of each staggered chunk each month :)
