Ok, so my harddrive died completely and I ran out and bought a new computer because well, I have a credit card. Anyway, I was going to log on to IRC, but I can't remember how to set up Trillian. I remember it was a pain in the *** and that someone walked me through it. Someone? Are you still there? As you can see, I'm so grateful for the first time that I've forgotten who it was in my excitement!

Yeah, so if someone can run me through the dummies guide to IRC on Trillian, I'll be super happy.

Get mIRC. It's Easier. I hope you get it figured out soon though cause I could use some company in the IRC.

Trillian? Wasn't that the semi-hot chick from Hitchhiker's Guide?

Yeah, I hinted towards someone telling me how to set it up a while back and I got nothing but crickets.

Of course, people like you so maybe you'll get some help.

I think either Joph or Kao walked me through mine. Either way, I'm a gimp when it comes to those kinds of things, so I assume they were good.

Sure, Here's Kao's Dread Guide to spookily setting up IRC

In Trillian, either on setup, or via the "Add new connection" button in trillian properties: Identities and Connections

Add the following information:
Server: irc.allakhazam.com:6667
Username: Nexa
ID: Nexa
Secondary Username: Nexa

Depending on the screen you are on, those boxes may or may not be labled.

Check the box for Automatically connect on startup

click on the "Change" button
in the "Perform buffer" section check the check box, and add the following text:

/msg nickserv identify YOURPASSWORDGOESHERE; /join #asylum

If you want to chat in any of the other rooms besids the asylum, put a ; in between each additional statment

/msg nickserv identify YOURPASSWORDGOESHERE; /join #asylum; /join #everquest; /join #ffxi
like that.

On that same page, also check the "reconnect on disconnect" box

now click the Miscelaneous tab, in there, check "Rejoin Channel when kicked"

random question, why do you have to "/msg nickserv identify YOURPASSWORDGOESHERE?"

I guess my question is better worded as, what happens if you don't do that.

Our IRC system is tied directly to these here forums. That piece of text lets the forum system know that you are who you say you are, and if yo are premium, or admin it applies the special account features to you at that time. if you don't do that, you won't get the +v tag in IRC if you are premium, and if someone else registers your name first, well, you don't get to use that name in IRC then.

Nexa has already done this step, so I didn't include it in the instructions above, but the first time you use IRC you need to send the command

/msg nickserv register USERNAME PASSWORD

where username is your usenrame for the forums, and the password matches your forum password to log the IRC name in the forum system. That one you only need to do once. the /msg nickserv IDENTIFY command you need to do each time you log in

If you do not do that, youc an still use IRC and whatnot, but you are not garunteed to keep your username.

Brilliant! I just took a fat dump in the toilet, I think it's clogged, I might have to go buy a new house. :(

My credit limit isn't that high.

In my defense, it was a Compaq Presario that I bought in 1999. It was time.

Thank you, the exact same post bar a positional nuance was nuked by a certain admin, I won't name names but his name rhymes with fucktard. Ok, so it doesn't really, I just wanted to call him that and I figured you'd know who I was talking about anyway.

Things must be slow around here if a post like that gets nuked, unless I'm mistaken and this is the Sandbox I'm in. Am I the only one who thinks that not only was Nexa totally aware I'm just messing with her, had I been serious she's more than capable of handling her own or just ignoring it and brushing it off of her shoulder like the classy lady she is?

I missed you too Kao.
