My weekend:

Getting ready for homecoming. Blah blah boring.

Friday: School's out, go home, goto homecoming football game, we win 62-7.

Saturday: Race go-karts with my friend, go to WSU football game. They lose to Stanford.

Go home to get ready for Homecoming. Find out 12 year old motocross racer Willie McCormick (good friend of my little brother) died earlier that day from "Extreme Chest Trauma." He was airlifted to the hospital but 30 min. of CPR couldn't save him.

Go to dinner with gf, and homecoming dance. Left about 2 hours into it. Went to bed.

Sunday: Wake up at noon. Gf calls, tells me my best friends dad, who is also a teacher, and my basketball coach of 6 years, who has been fighting brain cancer for a year, died this morning. Had to call my mom who was at the ceremony for the aforementioned boy, and tell her that her friend died.

I need vodka.

What a dumb way to die. 12 years old in a motocross racing accident. I'm sure it was totally worthwhile.

You people act like it was forced on him. It was his decision, his parents know it has risks, all parents should now that. The track that he died at has only had 2 major accidents in the last 5 years. This one, and another 16 year old girl who had a spinal injury when a les experienced rider landed on her. The girl actually recovered and has no long term damage.

Meh, the chances of dying are higher when your parents drive you to the track as opposed to when you're actually racing. Like in a head-on collision, or getting trapped under a gas truck, that's the worst.

Let's play spot the reference.

So his parents knew the risks, but let him make the decision anyway? If we let 12 year olds make all their decisions they'd eat ice cream all day and never go to school.

I'm not blaming him or the parents, but a 12 year old kid doesn't have the responsibility to decide if something like that is safe or not.

I don't know any statistics on motocross safety, I just think it's a stupid and unnecessary activity, especially at 12.

But one activity is necessary, and the other is frivolous.

We should never let any child make any decision for himself. We should shelter the children at all costs. Locking them in a padded crate in their rooms until they're 25 sounds good.

After reading "Show us your bewbs!!" for the millionth time in here, I'm going to do this if I ever have a daughter.

Oh, and sorry about your weekend. They say there is never a moment of pleasure in life without and equal moment of pain. Maybe something good is brewing up?

Sorry, I was referring to all of the people who talk about how barbaric and hideous motocross is. Not just you.

It's a sport. Just as much as any other. Surprisingly, motocross injury rates are very low. You may seen a sprained ankle here, a bloody nose once or twice, but for the most part, accidents like this are very very very rare.

Chances are, if you race motocross, and play football, you'll be out for the motocross season due to a broken arm in football, or something like that.

I only looked for about 2 seconds, didn't find anything interesting.

I often golf through rain, but if lightning comes it's time to duck under a tree and smoke a doob.

It's usually time to smoke a doob everytime you get out on the golfcourse, rain or shine. I shoot way better, I tell ya.

A tree is nearly as bad.

Best bet is to crouch down in a sand trap.
