The FBI has shared a "specific threat" with New York officials against its subway system, Mayor Michael Bloomberg said Thursday.

"If you see something, say something. Call ... 911 if it's an emergency," he said, urging vigilance.

I call BS.

More scare tactics since the support for the war is waning.

how obvious can you get?

At first I thought there was some incredible submarine sandwhich crisis going down, but then I realized what you meant. Smiley: frown

Actually, I heard about this earlier today. Stay safe people.

Easy to say, but you try repelling an explosive detonation with the Force. It's not as easy as you'd think.

Very true. Very true, but I still will keep my fingers crossed that no one (unless its skett) from allahs gets hurt by this.

Well, it's certainly no secret that the level of the terror alert is inversely proportional to Bush's approval ratings.

Which is what is going to make it so funny when you get killed in a terrorist attack.

Just a saying that is pretty common in Australia right now, I'll let you ponder its meaning. And for someone criticising flames, you really do need to take a look in the mirror.

And that was after an edit? Christ only knows how much the original sucked.

I don't understand what you guys find so hard to believe about a possible terrorist attack on your subway system. Part of me is wishing for it to happen just to wipe the smug look off your faces.

"omgz bush why would there be another terrorist attack!! what is the chances of it happening again?11!"

Is that basically what you are trying to say?

I, for one, will not be taking the subways this weekend.

Which is absolutely no change in my plans. I do have a lot of friends who live and work in the city, though.

Ok, so it -could- happen. I think it has become a sort of cry wolf, and people have noticed a long time ago that they use these terror alerts as a distractions. That really is too bad, because what if they really did have evidence of a possible terror attack on the subways. Maybe it will happen, and maybe we will never know what was going on. I wish there was a way, without releasing some sort of "top secret information", that they could say something other than take our word for it...

It's a lose lose situation for your government, if they don't warn you of a possible terrorist attack, even if it is unlikely, and then it happens, you will all **** and moan and say the government should have done something to prevent it. If they do tell you of a possible attack, you **** and moan and call them liars.

A person could do wonders by reading Aesop's Fables to the US congress at one or more upcoming sessions.

The government is fucked.

I am ALWAYS cautious. It's in my nature. I don't need scare tactics, be they valid or not, to make me be aware of my surroundings.

OH
... and I hear that this latest threat is actually from Iraq. Yeah.. good job on keeping the terrorists off of our soil by invading the place.

Out-fucking-standing.

Meh.

I was paranoid in New York before 9/11. The place is just so...BIG.

I like Boston. Very few targetables and a mostly above ground Subway system.

Only thing I need to be scared of at the moment is the White Sox.

But I dunno what to think about the New York threat. They haven't released much more info other than the fact that there has indeed, been a threat made.

I like the city but New York is just too big. I like the size of Seattle...and the atmosphere is so much different. Like it was said in an earlier post, I was also scared of New York pre-9/11. Based off what I have been told by friends over there and a friend of mine who is ex-NYPD, people are fucked in the head over there compared to here. They're also ***holes too.
