But the government can set a deffinition for when a child is a person. Thats what the debate hinges on, right? We can vote on that.
The government defines things every day[slight exaggeration], rewritting deffinitions if it needs to, according to the majority will of its people. Or to protect a minority. Look at same-sex marriage. Had to rewrite the deffinition slightly.
That was, I'll grant, an instance of
increasing freedom. What about increasing the freedoms for the child, like to live.
I also think personal responsibility plays into it at some point, but that is a debate for another day.
