Foo Fighters are not my cup of tea however I saw them live and it was an okay show. Also they make no attempt to disguise themselves. I have seen any number of interviews with Grohl where he stated that the Foo is a pop rock band and nothing more.

As for Disturbed. I saw them live like 5 years ago in a small club. It was possibly the saddest thing I've ever seen. The music was *****, they walked around like big men but when they got off the stage the lead singer is like 5'2. I chatted with him for a bit and it was like speaking to a munchkin.

the Tragically Hip are greater than all.

As for the Beatles they blessed us with a number of a catchy tunes and the gem that is the "I am Sam" soundtrack full of their covers. However that still doesnt excuse the monstrosity of a song that is "Taxman" off the Revolver album. That song is pure *** in song form.

I once thought like you.

one day I listened to the Guitar solo in it.. right after the "TAX MAAAN!♪!" part... and I saw the song in a whole new light.

it is an awesone jam, truly ahead of it's time.

Tool over Foo Fighters? >.>

Tool just sounds like angry teenager music if you ask me (which no one did, but hey, whatcha gonna do? :P), unlike the Foo which is actually good ol' rock. I like the Foo. So shush with the Foo-bashing.

And I like Bob Dylan too ^^

What the hell are you talking about? Foo Fighters over Tool? Hmm...let's see here:

Tool
Original drum beats
Talented vocalists
original sounding music
good lyrics

Foo Fighters
Crappy drums
Dave Grohl as vocalist
Bubble gum pop music
Generic lyrics

Oh yes, I must agree with you. Foo Fighters are the best

Eh, I went through a Beatles phase when I was younger. They get old after a long while, but are still one of the greats.

I also went through a Disturbed phase (a very short one) a few years back, but man, they get old really -really- fast. I have never paid any attention to the Foo Fighters. I have heard some of their music on the college station back home, and was unimpressed.

I personally have a thing for funk and soul. Not motown (blech) but early Stax and some stuff out of New Orleans. Also yay George Clinton. Just one piece of my complicated musical tastes ;)

I just relistened to the song.

It still sucks and you wasted 2:39 minutes of my life. I hate you Kelvy but since you are still playing FFXI I couldnt ask for anything worse to happen to you.

I like the Foo Fighters and I agree with Bhod in saying they put on a good show. I like them as in I won't change the radio station if a hit from them comes on- but I don't go out and by FF posters and have them nailed to above my bed.

I had a feeling that sig might come back to haunt me.

btw. I'm not saying Foo Fighters is the best band ever or anything, just better than Tool >.>

Alas, poor Kelvy.

For the Fighters of Foo are touring with the Weezers at the moment...

What do we have here?

A low count below default account making an obviously inflammatory statement of saying that Foo Fighters are a better band than Tool.

Is it really to hard to see a troll when he is right in your face. Don't feed the trolls.

I'm not a troll! ; ; That seemingly everyone disagrees with what kind of music I like and dislike doesn't make me a troll. It makes me different :P

The Foo Fighters do suck. Go listen to some stuff that the band members previously made. Sunny Day Real Estate and The Germs come to mind.

Better than Tool...

Well, I've always thought Foo Fighters were a halfway decent band. Just checked my iTunes, and I've got 3 singles of theirs. Guess the fact that I DL'd the singles, but didn't show interest in the whole album should give an idea of how much i like them. I've got "Best of You", "Hero", and "Everlong".

Of their stuff, Everlong is probably my favorite. I think that one's a pretty damned good song.

As for Tool/A Perfect Circle, well, I think people credit their lyrics as being a little more "deep" than they actually are. Deep probably isn't the word I'd use, since the lyrics really don't mean anything more than the average angsty song at the heart of it. However, I'd say their pro's lie in a poetic way of expressing that angst, partly in their lyrics, but mostly in the form of the vocals, which are great. Of the two, I prefer A Perfect Circle, though their latest album somewhat sucks.

Straight up rock (and many of it's variations) is the way to go for me. I miss STP. :(

In other music news, it seems Coheed and Cambria's latest CD is up to #7 on Billboard. I'm surprised. They're an awesome band, but I would have thought their music is too specialized and distinctive to attract a popular audience (plus it's all theme-albums). Great to see though. They're definitely worth checking out, for those of you who haven't yet heard 'em. That's the best recommendation I can make from the latest on the music scene.

I'd agree with you in regards to Tool's older songs but with Lateralus?

Black then white are all I see in my infancy.
Red and yellow then came to be, reaching out to me.
Lets me see.
As below, so above and beyond, I imagine
Drawn beyond the lines of reason.
Push the envelope. Watch it bend.

Over thinking, over analyzing separates the body from the mind.
Withering my intuition, missing opportunities and I must
Feed my will to feel my moment drawing way outside the lines.

Black then white are all I see in my infancy.
Red and yellow then came to be, reaching out to me.
Lets me see there is so much more and
Beckons me to look through to these infinite possibilities.
As below, so above and beyond, I imagine
Drawn outside the lines of reason.
Push the envelope. Watch it bend.

Over thinking, over analyzing separates the body from the mind.
Withering my intuition leaving all these opportunities behind.

Feed my will to feel this moment urging me to cross the line.
Reaching out to embrace the random.
Reaching out to embrace whatever may come.

I embrace my desire to
Feel the rhythm, to feel connected enough to step aside and weep like a widow
To feel inspired, to fathom the power, to witness the beauty,
To bathe in the fountain,
To swing on the spiral of our divinity and still be a human.

With my feet upon the ground I lose myself
Between the sounds and open wide to suck it in,
I feel it move across my skin.
I'm reaching up and reaching out.
I'm reaching for the random or what ever will bewilder me.
And following our will and wind we may just go where no one's been.
We'll ride the spiral to the end and may just go where no one's been.

Spiral out. Keep going, going..

Well, there are exceptions of course. I think the lateralus lyrics are ok (not great), but I happen to really dislike almost every other aspect of that particular song, so I guess I didn't really consider it.

Perhaps Tool's lyrics are a little more deep than APC? I'm less familiar with them than APC actually, so I could see if I've missed out on a few of Tool's more powerful songs. But again, I think people misconstrue what I feel is an extremely poetic expression of basic emotions into a really deep, thought-provoking song. It's still great nevertheless.
