Ten Thousand Fists!Follow

#1 Oct 05 2005 at 11:18 AM Rating: Sub-Default
Im sure that the gambit of musical taste here is quite diverse, but i highly recommend everyone getting "Ten Thousand Fists" by Disturbed (best rock CD i have ever bought). I bought the CD last week and can say its one of the best CDs i have. The band has really redefined themselves and the guitar is some of the best i have ever heard.

If you dont feel like buying the CD, try finding the 8th song somewhere, towards the end of the song is one of the best guitar solos that i have ever heard, which is then topped by a guitar duet ten seconds later that about made me wet myself.

Anyways, give it a try, i know this isnt the usual asylum topic, but i thought you guys would enjoy it.

yes, they do.

so does Korn, Green Day, Offspring, Blink 182,

Wow, I can't remember anymore of the multitudes of crap-*** music that's out there.. and there's a reason for that. It all is lame bullshyte.

There's one band.. called "Default". Yeah, they may as well all name themselves that.

I'm not a real rock fan lately. Nothing I've heard in the last few years that I would classify as "rock" has really impressed me.

I'd call Green Day punk, not rock, and I couldn't hate the Offspring more if they paid me to do so.

ya, i will give you that, Green Day does lean more toward punk rock. I think im more a fan of the few good guitar bands of today (Disturbed, Stained, 3 doors down, pearl jam when they were still doing anything worthwhile, few others)

Pearl Jam was the last great rock band I heard. I liked them more than Nirvana. Foo Fighters is pretty close to great.

Green Day leans toward Punk rock like most Halo players lean toward being actual soldiers.

Current good bands that I still listen to. Not in any particular order.

Boy Sets Fire (Probably the most impressive band of it's type. They were an inspiration live, and they are generally just some great people)
Spineshank (defunct)
Hot Water Music
The Draft
Ruins
Cradle of Filth (for comedic value only. Admit it, they really are funny as hell))
Old Alkali Trio (before the Good Mourning Disaster)
NOFX
Guttermouth
Rise Against
Authority Zero ((these guys are truly amazing live. If you get a chance to see them, DO))
Pennywise (still one of the best out there. Yeah, I know having a positive message is passe, but they will always, always be one of the best bands around.))

There are a LOT of good bands out there. You just have to poke around a lot. You dont often hear them on the raido at all, but that's just as well.

It's primarily old 1960s Ska from Jamaica.. not the drunken fat, frat-boy ska...

Here's a question in the hijack vein.
What happened to Punk.
What the hell happened to Emo? And why do all the Emo kids seem to think they are punk?
What the hell is Emo, anyway? All the bands I have listened to that claim that particular title seem to be a horde of whining children. Well, not all, just a lot.
Can anyone name a few Emo bands for me so I know what to avoid or what to look for?
Is there such a thing as good old punk anymore?

Ummm yeah, but it's old.
It doesn't take long for somting to become a parady of itself.

****, I've been jamming to Dead Milkmen and Dead Kennedys this passed week.

But they are all emulating the stuff that came before them..... and as you know... wehn you start making copies of copies of copies of copies... eventually, you're gonna get Crap.

Emo (Short for emotion)

The most prominent Emo band is Dashboard Confessional. I personally like Dashboard, but I despise most of the people that listen to them. If you ever listen to them, you will notice that he isn't so much singing as he is whining. So, to play it safe, if the singer sounds like they are whining, then it is most likely Emo. And if you see a boy dressed up in his sister's jeans with shaggy hair and a sadonic expression, he is most likely an Emo kid.
